Cool to find a thread for the 90s kids, can't believe its over 20 years since all this stuff was out. Last year when I was bored and trying to fill my mancave with stuff, I thought I'd make a framed pic of some of my fave album sleeves from the britptop era. Here is how it ended up. . . Some of the 'usual suspects' and some less obvious but equally great albums. A lot of my fave 94-96 stuff is here.

Was a tiny boy in the 90s but I love Suede and much of Pulp. I found them by chance.
Pulp their His N Hers album especially, I used to drive to work in the dark (5AM!) with it often playing.
Suede's first album, Dog Man Star (musically overblown without being pretentious, great fun) and Coming Up are favourites. New Generation could be my favourite song of theirs.

My favourite Pulp tune is the Great Expectations version of Like a Friend. It was our Mr Brightside, before Mr Brightside but is seemingly often forgotten.

Totally agree. Love all the first 3 Suede albums when I'm in the mood. Dog Man Star is pretty dark, actually its bleak as **** in places, but is a masterpiece to me. Coming Up was almost too sickly sugary sweet in places but its a great pop album. I guess the contrast between them was a reaction to how dark DMS was, a bit like The Cure straight after Pornography (another dark classic) releasing a string of poppy singles that ended up coming out with their B-sides as Japanese Whispers.
If you don't have it already, you MUST get their compilation of B-sides 'Sci-Fi Lullabies'. All the B-sides from the first 3 albums & Stay Together which was the standalone single. Actually there are tons of B-sides, like 20, from the Coming Up era, many of which would make a great album themselves. A ridiculously productive time for them. Also it was way back in the day of CD singles being released over 2 parts (some bands really took the wee wee and did 3) thus tagging on loads of extra tracks. Actually for the completest, the 2011 remasters of the first 3 albums contain even more songs, ones that didn't even make it onto Sci-Fi Lullabies. That is a seriously good collection though.

Been listening to the first 2 Sleeper albums a bit lately. Now they were a great singles band. They're touring again, and Louise Wener's book 'Just For A Day' about her time in Sleeper is a good read. She writes novels too.

I was always Oasis growing up, then they went a bit crap so I went through a stage of pretending to think Blur were better. Listening/looking back now, Oasis are one of the best bands of all time, Blur are just a very good 90's band.

Anyone catch Blur or Pulp live this year?
Pulp at Finsbury Park exceeded all expectations. Jarvis has still got it, and then some.
Also saw Blur at Wembley. There were literally hundreds of tickets going for £20-£30 during the week of the gig. Fuck me they really did put on a show. Played a huge setlist full of bangers. Forgot how many tunes they had.

I’d be the opposite out of Shed Seven & Cast. Always liked ‘A Maximum High’, still got the 2CD version with loads of B-sides on. Play it once in a blue moon. Saw them live in York once, I like a good homecoming gig. Think @rob666 saw them in Blackburn too.

I've tried to like shed. They've not grabbed me in at any point.
Cast to me are the dogs dangly bits. All change, mother nature calls and magic hour are 3 of the finest LP's of that era.
Off to see John Power in October. Should be decent. He's started playing some La's tracks aswell.
