Busch Gardens Tampa: General Discussion

^Some testing has already begun. The lift hill chain has been rotating and block testing has already begun with both trains moving throughout the station & transfer track areas.

Have they finished the track now?
Not quite. It's about 90% done. They've started a lot of testing already that would usually only occur after track completion. Presumably this will make the time between track completion and opening shorter than it would normally be.

Does anyone have a rough idea of what throughput this beast will manage?
And subsequently, how long the wait is likely to be this summer?

Throughput on this is a concern of mine. It is going to be extremely popular and there are only 2 trains. We all know that whilst BGT has far from the worst operations out there, it also isn't one of the fastest parks. (Although having said that Tigris is operated fantastically.) Theoretical throughput will probably be around 1000pph. They will achieve 900 on a good day I'd imagine. When a train has to go off for maintenance is a big concern of mine with there only being 2 of them.

Sorry to hijack the thread, this is more of a general orlando question but me and my gf are planning on getting the Ultimate Orlando/Freedom ticket for 14 days. Does this include access to MNSSHP, HHN and HoS or do i need to buy seperate tickets for them? Also, should i be buying them now to avoid a sellout or can i wait a few months? Cheers

You'll need to purchase the Halloween event tickets separately. Some events sell out, mainly MNSSHP these days, but I wouldn't worry just yet.

Spot on. For some reason, i just assumed i could get in for them. Then panicked a little, now i feel better. Thank you.

I wouldn't bother with MNSSHP.....it's incredibly overpriced for what it is.

That’s Disney, everything is expensive.

but if you like parades, fireworks and characters I would really recommend MNSSHP. We queued for ages for characters and got candy and watched the parade, fireworks and the hocus pocus stage show and had a great evening. Can do rides on other days at the Magic Kingdoms, but you can’t always meet most of the characters who come out at the parties.

Here's a construction update video I found from Coaster Studios, which provides some very good quality shots:

As for the coaster; regardless of where it ranks compared to other RMCs, it looks like it's going to be absolutely mental! I almost think that calling it mental would be doing it a disservice!

For starters, I'm convinced that the roll under the lift hill (I think it's the one that everyone is calling the death roll?) might be the tightest RMC transition I've ever seen; in fact, it might be the tightest coaster transition I've ever seen full stop! Combined with the fact that the thing looks absolutely monstrous, it looks like an absolute work of art to me!

Rather remarkably, it is now testing, just 1 day after track was completed:

At the rate they're progressing, I think Iron Gwazi will be operating by the end of March in a worst case scenario; I could potentially even see an opening within the next 2 weeks if they test quickly!

I suspected this would be the case. The fact they had all the wiring done long ago and the trains on the track at the 3/4 track completion mark suggested they were itching to get going with this.

Looking forward to seeing the speed. Even on the first initial test runs I hardly anticipate it'll be running slowly.
