Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Yes, open fire doors, I *think* new arches, but not 100%, and green and white stickers everywhere.

Room on the broom was just as bed yesterday. Spoke to an opthat said to escort people (and operate as it should) takes 4 members of staff. They’re now only allowed 2 so one sits behind the desk, the other does the door opening, loading and closing. Then it’s a free for all once you’re inside.

Did it twice yesterday and deliberately tried to follow the old way, ie taking part in the scenes, watching the screens etc and it’s out of time if you do that, and you’re caught by the group behind.

They do, however, have someone to sell the photos!, though it’s hit and miss if they take one or not.

And blimey, Vampire could do with a jet wash.

As far as I was aware it was always intended to run automatically with few staff. I know when I did it you could see sensors and stuff, however the staff manually ran it. I believe it was being tested to try and work out timings, etc.

It was never going to last using so many staff. However we all know merlin love building rides which require too many staff to operate and then merlin cut the staffing budgets and the parks can operate the rides as planned, eg Smiler, Sub Terra, Galactica, DBGT, I’m a celeb, etc.

I would guess it’s merlin magic makings fault really as they design the rides badly, then merlin don’t give the correct budgets for what they have put in.

I don't understand how Chessington have kept this up for so many years now.

The abysmal throughput on not one but almost all of their major attractions nowadays means the place is unbearable on all but the quietest of days.

Surely it should be enough to put visitors off returning?

But clearly not.

Just noticed that they’re doing some sort of “vip” after hours version of creepy caves for Halloween this year. Creepy caves was one of the best mazes I did last year. A more intense version where you brave it alone and they can actually touch you sounds amazing!

To be fair a group of us did Creepy Caves last year, and I hope to god we didn’t get the normal kids version as the actors really went for us! Soon as they noticed we were just adults they were going hard.

Guess now that’s just an extra charge.

If we had the kids version and this VIP incarnation is far more extreme, a spare change of pants would be required...

It was the sheer amount of actors in there when we went which made it so intense there was definitely kids in our group but it was pretty full on.

Hi all

Plans have been released showing a new drop tower ride at around 25 meters being installed where Rameses Revenge currently sits. It appears to also incorporate the Flying Jumbos too in the redevelopment. Rameses Revenge looks set to be retired from the resort, but lets face it, it's days have been numbered for a very long time.

It appears that it will have some good themeing and special effects too, so I reckon it could be a great replacement for an old ride!

It's nice to see that money is being spent on chessington, the new road, the park it self looks nicer and more maintained, the new rides.....but it's a shame this will replace a extremely good ride that is only at the end of its cycle because of cuts to the maintenance it needed. If only they hadn't wasted money on ips and robot pandas.....and where are the pandas by the way??

This is going to be fairly forceless at 82ft and ramasies was pretty much the only thing that kept me coming back to chessington. I appreciate that theme park enthusiasts are not the target market for Chessington though and ramasies always felt out of place in terms of intensity with the rest of the park. Any idea of the manufacturer?

Was the special effect supposed to be fog/smoke on that schematic?
