I’ve still been encouraged to use the machine despite staff being there.
But it’s not an issue, check in is simple and I’d rather use the machine so staff can do tasks that aren’t so simple or assist those guests who do need more help.

Depends on location. I was checked in at a desk by a person at the last three Premier Inns I stayed at.
I'm not averse to the concept of self-service check-in but it doesn't belong at a premium hotel.

Despite the pricing none of the resort hotels are premium and won't be, they just don't offer the stuff that four star or above need to really.
Maybe they could be compared to a Hilton instead of a Premier Inn if they put the effort in.
My issue (and it was the same at Universals Sapphire Falls) was the queue to check in. If offered the previous 15 minute wait to check in with a human or a zero minute wait for a machine I'd take self-check-in no matter how "premium" the hotel is meant to be.

We spotted vekoma at chessington yesterday I'm guessing they were working on vampire as that is an arrow dynamics coaster, unless there's anything else that's blanking me.
Where are they strapping the components to, the roof rack?
Maybe consulting for some possible future work?

Possibly I was thinking if vampire needed some work done they'd be the ones Merlin would get to check it out.
Let's hope they're there for future business project reasons although I doubt it.

Would be great to see them give Vampire a new lease of life.
It's easy to take for granted sometimes but I think it's one of the very best family coasters in Europe.
Also if it does happen we would likely see a tidy up of the queue and general appearance.

If they retrack Vampire, I would like to see them give the track a new colour as let's be honest, brown is pretty nasty for a track colour IMO when you look at Knightmare we had at Camelot. Maybe have the track painted purple with the supports still in black which together would actually look nice I must say but that's just me. Just not more Merlin black/grey please.
