Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Christ so there's no Asia or Mexicana this year? That parks going to be horrendous this year.

In fairness, the loss of Mexicana compared to the last couple of years will have no impact on this year in terms of capacity. There's literally 0 rides closing there; Rattlesnake is remaining open, and Scorpion has already been closed for a number of years.

Asia will be a huge loss.

I hope that they look at off peak days and closures and have rattlesnake open with Asia closed off, use to love the warm September off peak days in wild Asia....

Is kobra out all year too then ?
I think as others have said its a shame this couldn't be phased. Kobra and jungle bus look like they could stay open whilst the main construction is happening of the new indoor attraction / demolition of the other buildings and removal of rides. I guess closing the whole area probably makes the site easier to operate in and speeds up the build, but it will be a huge loss for the next 2 seasons.

The plans show Kobra is being relocated (it looks like the centre of the ride will go over the existing path through to Land of the Tiger) so it's not as simple as maintaining a temporary path through to access it. That said, with two areas under construction at the same time the park will certainly feel a lot smaller.

Wild Asia going is a weird one for me. At the time it felt like a turning point for the park and then... nothing.

Granted the area wasn't anything special. But gave it a new lease of life at the very least. And that's from someone who remembers peak Beanoland.

The budget system in the 2010s really didn't help the park. Zufari being the prime example of having the budget gobbled up from other sources.

Zufari and Smiler opened the same season, at the time there were rumours that Zufari's budget was cut due to Smiler going over budget. Supposedly there was meant to be a finale where something actually happened but I've never seen anything specific.

The ride may also have been affected by operational cutback post-2015, but that would be a separate issue

Was told similar as I still knew a few from the rides team from my time there.

Maybe they should've shelved the god awful pre-show to save some money.

Dear god, that's a memory I had suppressed; I hated that damn creature with an absolute passion (what was it, a chameleon? lizard?), being forced to sit there listening to it interacting with guests was an utterly hellish experience.

I didn't appreciate just how many rides were being closed (this early). So, a Park who struggles with capacity and ride reliability is going to be missing a whole land... Kobra, Monkey Swinger, Jungle Bus and Dodgems. Scorpion Expeess had pretty much been SBNO so no real loss there.

I might give Chessie a miss this season 😀
