Greggs is nowhere near as bad as some people seem to think. Sure it may not be healthy, but it's pretty good quality. They sell pastries and doughnuts, what do you expect‽

Now if you want a decent chain of bakeries to buy your bread at, I reccomend Wenzels. I think they are only found in the northwest quadrant of Greater London, though.

Tbh my reason for disliking them is just weird sensory stuff (texture of the food and lights)

I like a good Greggs; the Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt is a favourite of mine, and they do nice cakes as well!

In promising news, however, the Oxford vaccine that says it could have 1 million doses by September and 100 million by the end of 2020 has now had a promising leap forward in development; the vaccine works on monkeys: https://apple.news/AgghmFWDJT9eRil2JgCnofA

People may have doubted its targeted timeline initially, but I think that this definitely makes this timeline look more likely!

When the vaccine has been found, I'm imagining a widespread high school vaccine type affair

You should get the Too Good To Go app.

At around 5pm each day you can pre order a mystery box from Wenzels for £3 which contains all the stuff that would otherwise go in the bin.

I've only done it once but got 4 yumyums, a Danish and 4 big sandwiches :cool:

Also Iceland sell Gregg's stuff, I've got 4 Steak Bakes in the freezer for emergencies.
 
The lockdown will be eased slowly with more food and drink places being opened and run like the supermarkets are at the moment.

This is likely to continue for a fair few months which will of course help the economy keep rolling.
 
Does anyone know how much the uk tourist industry puts into the UK economy?. I’m sure it said somewhere that a few years back it made 100billion. It’s seems pretty high but it could be right.

Anyone who knows how premise licensing works, is there any category system that government could use to say open restaurants least likely to be an issue social distancing wise?

Id imagine the government will give loose instruction like they have all along. This way they cant be held responsible if someone isnt doing whats asked in a certain shop, falling to the store to police it.
 
Animals are reclaiming the world due to Covid-19 lockdown

Patrolling the streets at night you'd think I police a town populated mostly by badgers. I know they're always out there but they're usually quite a rare sighting. They've become a lot braver and more active on the residential streets, incredible how quickly nature adapts.
 
Our local foxes have got desperate. The lack of takeaways and pubs means no huge piles of food for them to raid. Our bin bags get totalled every week. The other night I was having a cig on the balcony, and watched a fox circle a litter bin several times, before curling up on the pavement next to it.... guarding it. Cars went by, a few people even walked right past it. Foxy did not move. He had found a bin and was damn well going to sit there and wait until one of the big monkeys put some bloody food in it!

It's weirdly fascinating to see how quickly animals are adapting to these changes.
