It’s not true that you probably will be seriously ill if you are not vaccinated. Back when we didn’t have any vaccines you still probably wouldn’t have been seriously ill. The majority will be just fine.

Statistically your more likely to get seriously Ill without the vaccine - that’s been proven

I have been Ill myself pre vaccine and know numerous people who were hospitalised .

role forward this year - double vaccinated me had no real issues with the virus

to me proves a point

This is just not true at all. In fact most people, in particular the young, will not get seriously ill even if they are unvaccinated, it just reduces the slim chance of serious illness. I guess it depends on what you personally define as 'seriously ill'.

As for not having COVID as bad a second time after being vaccinated after the first. The vaccine probably played a part but it's also quite likely natural immunity did too in the form of antibodies and t-cells.
 
In an update to yesterday, my sister-in-law has now tested positive as well. She's had both original doses and the booster. As it stands, she's got a sore throat and her voice is going a bit. Other than that, she's not feeling too bad, but I guess it's one of those where time will tell.

Many big and medium sized employers won't touch people with positive tests. Imagine the backlash if they did? It's not the same as calling in with the sniffles or a headache/hangover. For that you can discipline for high absence and not pay the first 3 days sick, if at all if you found them skiving on social media. With Covid, it might as well be pregnancy or cancer. As soon as the word is mentioned, it's full pay, no questions asked and excluded from overall attendance management processes. Can't touch them.

It does feel wrong that this is the case. An employer that catches an employee who tested positive being out and about should absolutely be able to discipline that employee. Even more so than pulling a regular sickie as they could actually have Covid and really be putting others lives at risk for their own pleasure.

My nephew is not vaccinated and has had covid twice.
Neither time was he seriously ill.
Bad cold symptoms, nothing more, with both delta and omi.
 
As only 25 deltacron variants have been found, all at the same time. many scientists believe the supposed “hybrid” variant is likely due to contamination during sequencing.

I hope so.

I think we are showing that it is possible to live with Covid. Yes there has been an increase in hopspital admissions, but every week it seems a higher proportion of those admissions are with Covid, not for Covid. And despite the increase, there has been a decrease in the number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation which is clearly very good news.

It is good news…. If you ignore the fact the NHS has done barely any routine healthcare for the last 4 weeks.

Appointments for a consultant cancelled twice in as many weeks.
Three year wait for an 2nd op that is usually done within a year with my consultant.
Immunity grief means I have avoided crowds for two full years now...bit crap for going the coasters!
 
The cost of living rises at the fastest pace for 30 years. Regular pay fell by an average of 1%, the public sector are on a freeze (therefore cut) and we haven't even seen the energy impact yet and Brexit 'benefits won't be felt for a while yet.

Taking a slight diversion from politics but I read this article today with some incredulity. Rather than get the vaccine she exposed herself to the virus instead, with fatal consequences:

Hana Horka: Czech singer dies after catching Covid intentionally

A folk singer from the Czech Republic has died after deliberately catching Covid, her son has told the BBC.

Hana Horka, 57, was unvaccinated and had posted on social media that she was recovering after testing positive, but died two days later.

Her son, Jan Rek, said she got infected on purpose when he and his father had the virus, so she could get a recovery pass to access certain venues.

The Czech Republic reported a record number of cases on Wednesday.

Mr Rek and his father, who are both fully vaccinated, both caught Covid over Christmas. But he said his mother had decided not to stay away from them, preferring instead to expose herself to the virus.

"She should have isolated for a week because we tested positive. But she was with us the whole time," he said.

Got a new box of LFTs today, the first ones in I don't know how long that have the solution in a twist off thing, rather than in a peel off tube.

They also require you to sample both your nose and mouth, rather than just your nose.

Is this the old Welsh stock coming into England or is it a lottery as to which you get?

No one know whats going on with LFT supply stream. The nose only are orient gene. The mouth and nose are innova.
I am still using innova as works testing centre changed form innova to orient gene. Leaving 2 boxes of 25 innova tests. And its a shame to waste them.
