Discovery Ridge Feed The Beast/Minecraft Server

Want to be apart of the Discovery Ridge Resort team? Want to create an amazing experience for other guests and ensure all our visitors to the server and park; have a fun and enjoyable time? Want to be able to have perks such as the chance to build you're own house; make an enviroment in a town; play survival and mini-games and lastly: enjoy working with other team members, making new friends day by day?

Discovery Ridge is an FTB server, primally here for others enjoyment, and to create outstanding experiences, whether this be through rides, events, special displays, our staff or even our seasonal attractions such as CarnEvil and Experiment X.

We have 2 OPEN AUDTION dates for you to be on the workforce of Discovery Ridge for a short, but action packed season in 2013.

You will be required to work just 3 hours every week, or more if you wish to; and carry out you're workforce tasks in an appropriate way. Tasks depend on the unit of work you operate in. Since our last meeting, the Entertainments name has now been changed to Learning & Entertainment.

Ride Operations- Ride Hosting, Ride Operating, Welcome Hosting (Sometimes)

Guest Relations- Welcome Hosting, General Guest issues, Sales & Info, VIP Class on server, Fly available, Exit Hosting, Surveys.

Learning & Entertainment- Building event attractions (Horror Mazes, Easter Events, Concerts, Fireworks), Shows, Directing shows & mazes, building event theming

Management- Fly enabled, possibly creative, jail commands, general management, manage ride operation workforce & Guest Relation workforce

Maze Builders & Creative Learning Team- Build, Direct, Manage, Control and portray the mazes for FrightFest from September until November 2013. Fly & Creative enabled.

Actors for both rides & mazes- Act, Host, Direct and portray acting roles in our Horror Mazes for FrightFest and our rides & attractions. Maze actors, contracts end: 12th November 2013. Ride actors contracts end: December 31st 2013.

Our auditions take place in 15 minutes time, however it's fine to be early if you wish.

We will open the rides up too from 7.30pm-9pm for auditioners. You will be given a pass on arrival to get into our theme park.

Auditions take around 30 minutes, and then the park will stay open until 9pm.

Our Caprello Bar & Dining and Wild Willy's Roastin' Wings will be the ONLY food place available, and are self service. All the food is FREE OF CHARGE. Rum & Beer is also on sale at the Caprello Bar & Dining on Main Street. These will open from 7.30pm-8.45pm

Due to technical issues, Calamity, Expedition Everest and Sub-Scare MAY be closed, however they will OPEN with the rest of the rides on time at 7.30pm, but may close during the hour and a half. We will try to fix the attractions as quickly as possible.

Edit: THIS IS A Feed The Beast Server (Similar to Minecraft just different launcher). To get the FREE program, go to Google, type in Feed The Beast, Click top link, go to home page and scroll down to Download JAR File. Once you have done this, open it up and it will open a launcher. Add NORMAL MINECRAFT details such as Username & password in, then SELECT THE MODPACK FTB ULTIMATE on the LEFT hand side. Once you have done this, LAUNCH. The Mojang screen will stay on for 1 minute, and if it says Not Responding LEAVE IT ALONE until it does respond. Go to Multiplayer, add the Server IP. Feed The Beast is TESTED and used by millions round the world, and is an improvement on the normal Minecraft game, with more blocks. It is similar to Tekkit.

Looking for STAFF in 2014

We're looking for NEW STAFF in 2014, to enrole from February 2014!

At Discovery Ridge, we have more than 25 rides and attractions in the 2014 Season, and as our current 2013 staff are improving and taking higher roles, we're looking for staff to work in the following areas on the server. It's on a Feed The Beast Server (Minecraft Add-On), and as staff you'll need to come on the server at least 30 minutes or MORE (Most staff are on 10 hours weekly, or more) a week. You'll need to work as a group in certain areas, and you'll be given managers, who manage your work and assess how you do, and feedback to the owners. There are 3 Managers, and 3 MAIN Teams. You'll be assigned to a team IF successful.

The areas & quantity of workers we need are below:
-4 X Entertainment Actors & Builders (Build Shows, design shows, act in horror mazes, street act, act on rides (segments of attractions), act in shows, and more)

-4 X Ride Operations (Operate Rides, Host Rides, Manage Rides, maintain rides, promote rides, and more) (Each ride is operated by levers or buttons, and can range from 2 levers, to 15 levers to control on each ride)

-4 X Hosting Team (Host mazes, host rides, host attractions, host shows, welcome host, exit hosting, event hosting, firework hosting, park wide security)

EACH STAFF MEMBER gets a Staff Build zone, where you can design your own rides yourself! You also get all these perks: FREE preview nights, FREE time after park closing, participate in actitives & games, meet new staff members and make friends with different people, meet new guests!

You need to be able to speak GOOD English, however time zones does not matter (Such as American Workers). We are a UK based server, and do operate by our own time zoned opening hours). You also need to be polite to different staff, and respect the guests and managers! You need to be willing to do things, and focus on the task.

It's ideal that you are OVER 12, however this does not effect your work placement too much, however under 10's will not be able to apply. You DO get chances to build for the park too!

Terror Nights First Reveal​

Cabin In The Woods​

Our first SCARE MAZE reveal for our ‪#‎TerrorNights‬ event in March is.... Cabin In The Woods!
Cabin In The Woods will be an in-house Scare Attraction at our Terror Nights event, from March 1st-March 23rd.

It will feature many different special effects, strobe lighting, actors, tons of different scenes from the Cabin itself, to the main control rooms, to the classrooms, and more.

"As the local Police Department tape up the crime scene, you are asked to enter inside the Cabin, found inside the isolated woods. You are asked by Police Chief Harris, to enter and report back any information inside the Cabin. Disturbances made witnesses enter and discover that blood had spilled out from the front doors, and called the Police as soon as possible. The officers entered inside, however have now been missing for days on end, and the local Police need to discover what really has occured here. However, as you enter, with just little communication from the Police chief, you discover a moree brutal twist in the tale, and witness, this isn't just a normal holiday home..."

The Scare Maze is located in the Black Forest, and opens daily from: 2pm (Sat & Sun) and from 6pm (Mon-Fri)
Cabin In The Woods is one of many 'taste testing' mazes, as we test IP Horror Attractions against our own branded mazes, created by the in-house Discovery Ridge Team.

Staff who have been inside tonight, have commented how brilliant, scary and terrifying the Horror Maze really is, and how much improvement has occured in design, structure and scares, from the previous 'FrightFest' in October.

We will be revealing all our Mazes, Scare Zones, Shows and the 'special apperances', as well as the 'WANTED 3' in the park during Terror Nights, every Tuesday, so keep a look out on our Facebook Page!

Cbeebies Land: Grand Opening​

Our NEW themed land, inspired from Alton Towers, will be opening today at 6pm (UK Time), with a Grand Opening and presentation from the builders of the park (Kyle & Reece), and Head Managers, (Jake & James & Dan).

With a firework grand opening, we'll be saying hello to all our NEW attractions, such as:
-Get Set Go: Tree Tops Adventure
-Mr Blooms Magical Boat Ride
-Numtums Number-Go-Round
-Tree Fu Tom: Tree Climb
-Pingu's Playground Shootout
-Postman Pats Letter Delivery
-Bob The Builders Digging Dipper

As well as our NEW show area for Cbeebies Land:
-Big Fun Show Time, Hosting: BoogieBeebies, Meet & Greet sessions, and Spelling Bee-bies. Showtimes available from the Cbeebies Land, Big Fun Show Time Entrance

A number of interactive games around the land will also be played and be able to play.

Cbeebies Land will open from 6pm, and the main Theme Park will open from 3pm today (UK Time, London; Lisbon; Edinburgh; Dublin)

(PS: We've also made a number of small changes to the Far West, including a NEW station for Dynamite Falls, new queue system for Calamity & exit system, and changes to the buildings & theming, all of which have had positve reviews so far)

*All of what we do, is inspired from other real Theme Parks, or on our own criteria and inspiration. We do edit things, and everything we make is hand-crafted, and non world-edited. We make all of our theme park's redstone systems, theming and everything in the park, was made by both me, Reece & Jake, as well as other staff members help.

Feed The Beast Launcher (FTB is an add-on to Minecraft using mods. Download from the Feed The Beast website, the JAR or EXE client from the homepage. A Summer Of Fun Has Started!

A lot of you may be aware that this server USE to be on Feed The Beast, we've changed over to Minecraft with a normal IP, on version 1.7.9: discoveryridge.mcpro.eu

If you use to follow this project in it's early days, you'd notice how we tried to make it real life (and failed), however we've made some huge changes since then and now we have 12 staff members who just manage problems, operate Rush and smaller attractions like that, and manage the park (close/open etc). So a lot has changed since then. We've come a long way though, with the introduction of an inverted coaster, launched coasters, water rides with fountains, flat rides such as Rush at THORPE PARK and more. I'd love to see some of you join the server very soon and see for yourself the years worth of work and effort we put into this place!

The Opening Of Mexico
We're proud to say, our newest themed land, New Mexico, is now open! With roughly 6 different attractions to ride, you will never be short of fun in this area! Discovery Ridge are proud to say we've developed some of our best attractions in this new themed land, and our guests seem to think so too.

Something to SMILE about?
We're pleased to announce The Smiler is now open at Discovery Ridge. Based off the Alton Towers version, with minor changes to the layout and structual layout, The Smiler is one of our most technical and effect based attractions at the park. Many of our guests have enjoyed the experience on the ride, and keep coming back for more! The Smiler is located in Area X, however must be accessed via Black Forest for the time being!

The Re-Opening of the Black Forest
The Black Forest is now back open, after a few weeks of closure due to the removal of some attractions from the area ready for re-building in August. We have also managed to develop a new ride in Black Forest, and a ride which was adored by many when we were on FTB, which is Verbolten!

Verbolten at the park, is a cross between the well-loved attraction at Busch Gardens, and TH13TEEN at Alton Towers. We wanted to create the physcologcial story behind TH13TEEN with the track design from Verbolten, so we mixed both attractions together, and you get what you see before you today!

Many guests have stated that they simply loved this new attraction, and stated it one of our best developments due to the elements on the coaster, and technical effects that were installed!

Shows & Entertainment
We are renowned for our fantastic new Firework & Water spectacular, Dreams, which had its debut in early July 2014, however we haven't just developed Dreams the past few weeks, we've also developed brand new shows & entertainment.

Generation Forever: The fantastic new music show, going through the ages of pop music, mainly from the UK industry, which takes you on an awesome journey of music! The show is in our LG Arena on Main St, and shows daily!

DREAMS: The daddy of all shows, Dreams is a 40 minute Firework & Water spectacular to music from your childhood films and favourite movies such as Brave, Lilo & Stich, Shrek and more, with special effects and more. The show has been placed as the top 3 all time Minecraft shows by an outsider guest, and many people come back for more and more.

WaterFiesta
Mini Water Shows in front of the Castle daily, at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 9pm, 10pm & 11pm (UK TIME)

FiestaAventura (PortAventura Based)
A journey through our themed lands, such as Mexico, Lost Kingdom, Far West and more, as you end your day/time at Discovery Ridge, and we prepare to close for the night! (SUMMER ONLY: 0.30am UK Time)

It's now approaching FrightFest, our annual Halloween spectacular. We have began revealing all our FrightFest attractions to the public, and this year they are set to be more terrifying than ever before, with new custom sound effects, textures and new challenges inside the haunted attractions. We also, for the first time in FrightFest history, are going to be doing 3 hour Scare Room experiences, where you will be in a room, alone or with up to 3 of your friends, in the dark with loud music, actors and ghostly goings on happening for the duration of your stay.

To book a Scare Room for FREE, come on our server and talk to Kyle or Jake (Owners/Management) and we can pre-reserve you a place for your 3 hour Scare Room experience. Each room can have up to 4 guests, and we are doing the Scare Rooms on the following nights: October 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 31st. The rooms are going fast, so be quick!

White Nights & Opening Times for Summer
We are open at the following times on normal summer days:
UK TIME: 3pm-1am
EST TIME: 10am-8pm

Our White Nights, which are special events with live DJing, special shows and parades and night riding, we are open from:
UK TIME: 3pm-3am
EST TIME: 10am-10pm

Looking into the future
Our next developments will be Area X & the Himalayan themed areas. We hope to develop over 5 attractions in each themed land, and they will be both opening sometime in August or September. We cannot reveal much about the attractions we are developing, however we can confirm we will be developing a hyper-style coaster, and many dark rides in both areas.



The Big Change



After a huge talk between the staff and guests which took place recently, we have finally decided to change hosts to a better and more reliable host. This is one, of many reasons that we have been down the past few days, however we are hopeful that the park will be opening in less than 4 hours today, at 5pm (UK Time).

The first big change is that we are now under a NEW IP ADDRESS, which is:discoveryridge.mcpro.eu

Another big change we have decided to make is to introduce a clever warp system in our park, to rides and shows so it's easier to navigate in the park.

We have decided to revamp our older attractions this week, to give a better feel and use our skills developed from our latest builds to help make older areas feel and seem better. One of many improvements is on the Angkor attraction, where we have completely re-designed the ride and added new water features, such as on-board water guns to shoot other players on the ride.

We have now decided to join the 'dark-side' (more the good-side) of creating better and fresher flat ride attractions. We have many different flat ride ideas that we want to create in the park, which we will begin doing over the next few weeks. An example of one flat ride which is now in the park, and ready to open today is JUNGLE RUSH!

And finally, an example of how much more terrifying our scare mazes plan to be this FrightFest! We have developed a much better idea on how to SCARE you stupid in our Scare Mazes this October, and you'll have to visit us and go inside to see what we are talking about! Expect darkness, jump scares, loud noises and some ghastly things popping up on your screen! We're terrifyed even talking about it...
