Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

Regarding the previous plans for Splash Mountain, I imagine they could quite easily fit in a quasi-clone of the rethemed Maelstrom attraction at Epcot. Having a flume ride be all indoors would then solve the "issue" of building a flume in a colder climate.

Would probably make the most sense.

DLP need their own stand out attraction for me. Their own unique E ticket ride that reinvents the park. Not something that you can get in Florida.

I agree, but I can't imagine the suits turning down the opportunity if they consider it.

Just anything new would be good...

There's also space for a dark ride by Indiana Jones that never happened... Perhaps a water ride there instead?

Removing the petting zoo in Frontierland as well might open up something and get people actually going down to that end of the park...

Studios just needs a complete revamp a la California Adventure... Tram Tour needed binning when it first opened let alone now...

I visited last year for the 25th anniversary (which is still going I know) and the tram tour was so depressing. Never seen so many bored faces. We only rode it because the parks were dead.

The Frontierland farm area makes sense as one of Disneys mini lands, rebuilt as Arendell.
Its all setup with utilities, but essentially unused these days.
A dark ride (Slush Mountain?), a restaurant, meet and greet castle, merchandise shop and carts, Kristoffs Ice drinks etc.. Paint the train station in blues and greys, with snow and icicles...

It would drag in a huge crowd.

The Studios future is Marvel. The tram tour with the big scenes rethemed to Marvel, Marvel zhow in the Stunt Show stadium, Rock n Ironman coaster. Leave all the pixar stuff as it is.

Yes I expect the Studios to move to being a mix of Marvel, and animation (both Disney & Pixar). Most people don't care for the behind the scenes stuff anymore.

Well the current rumours are:

- Rock n Rollercoaster to get a Spiderman makeover.

- Armageddon show building will probably be changed into an Iron Man / Thor / Hulk attraction

- CineMagique turned into a live action Avengers show.

- TOT to Guardians of the Galaxy. Sorry guys but we all know it's coming

- Tram Tour to be replaced with something Big

2.1 billion dollars over 10 years for Studios Park is the supposed 10 year plan so it's going to be a real face lift and personally I think it will be fantastic. I really hope they don't make cut backs.

Visited DLP for the first time since ratatouille opened, and I was hugely disappointed by it, despite having read the reviews. The screens meant there was little point in it being trackless at all, and the story was rather lacklustre.

As for the ToT retheme, surely it would make sense to retheme it on Star Wars, specifically on Jabba’s palace, as the architecture is already similar, and the Season of the Force show looked pretty good on it.

I was surprised that there are still a lot of areas needing work despite the investment. The same pools that were covered in grime in 2014 look no better, and a lot of paint work is still required in Fantasyland. Nevertheless, it was still vastly improved

Is it just me who can’t get particularly excited about Marvel being dumped on DLP in such a big way? Fair enough an attraction or two, but it feels like we might end up with a park saturated by that one IP.

There is enough variety in Marvel to use it to retheme the left leg of the park as a quick fix. A lot of the current IPs (Armageddon, Dinotopia, Reign of Fire, Twighlight Zone) are just irrelevant now... so retheming to something customers recognise is a no brainer.

Longer term that park needs expansion as well. A European Galaxies Edge behind the tram tour would make a huge amount of sense. Move Star Wars out of the Magic Kingdom and concentrate it all in the studios. Rebuild the entrance with a Star Wars hotel over the entrance (likely the smallest or tallest hotel on site... but room rates could be high).
More restaurants are needed over there. They should squeeze a good quality Pizza Planet in Toy Story Playland, high profit margins and the customer base will already be over there.

The studios needs a lot of work to kake it a destination in its own right, where people go and don't even think that there is another park next door. Disney has both the IPs and the money to sort it out, so lets hope they have the will to do so.

Tower of Terror's facade is getting refurbished. However, as has been recently rumoured, the Guardians of the Galaxy retheme has seemingly been scrapped. (they certainly wouldn't waste money on restoring the facade if they were retheming it) While there is no confirmation of any story change; the current rumour that ED92 is reporting is that the Twilight Zone IP will be removed and replaced with a new original story/modified story at some stage in the future.

They could use the shadow of Shiriki story that runs in Japan for a limited period. The gist of it being a cursed idol being removed, curses hotel, lift falls, etc. It wouldn't be too much of a retheme at DLP.

Marvel isn't one IP though. there is Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four plus all the Avengers (Iron-Man, Thor, Hulk etc). If Disney had owned Marvel 15 years ago we may have got a whole park of Marvel to start with instead of a fake studio.
Half Marvel and half animation (mainly Pixar) makes more sense though.

I'm still amazed they didn't move the props and vehicles from the American tram tour over to the Paris one - then at least it would involve movies that the public have actually heard of, until they finally get around to removing it.

A remodel and upgrade of WDS is very much needed because the park is nowhere near as immersive or picturesque as the main park next door.

Installation of Marvel IPs is imminent and the backlot area will probably and hopefully be the area that gets sorted out because it lacks character overall. The likely loss of Rock N Roller coaster would be a shame though.

The tram tour either needs a massive overhaul or ripping out entirely as it’s a long winded, dated and monotonous attraction. I would love to see a variant on Star Wars Land open and the Pixar Area given some spruce up. The flats suffer with capacity and would love to see at least another E-Ticket positioned there. If there was any way of building another Crush next door to the original, it would really help with capacity.

Tower out of everything there is one of the few things that doesn’t need changing and if this GOTG retheme has been cancelled it comes as a relief. Hopefully the exterior renovation is reassurance of the Theme remaining during the forseable future. I have heard it’s had stability issues.

Probably and hopefully once the 25th anniversary and major main park renovations are completed, then the resort can start focusing on fixing the Studios. I don’t expect any new hardware though until at least the other side of 2020 though.

There was a plan to I think I remember it being mentioned from reliable sources on a Disneyworld forum. I guess money and also the props not being relevant now plus the long-term future of the tour being uncertain were all issues.

I think I made a rough draft map somewhere, but what I believe would benefit the studios park would be as follows:
Remove the studio tram tour
Add a 3 track toy story mid way mania to the toy story land (and a slinky or similar theme coaster further in the future)
Add a full Star Wars land
Retheme Armageddon and rock n rollercoaster to marvel, the stunt show could therefore be removed for a new dark ride (iron man experience or similar?)

Then to keep the balance between the parks. Tron could be built on the land currently uses for pizza planet, and an Indiana Jones dark ride (like at California) can be built on the land around the Indy coaster

These additions would make a balanced resort between the 2 parks.

Diogo I was thinking something a tad more reasonable than nuking investment that would make it a want to visit resort instead of one you want to bomb
