Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

This evening was the premier of Disney Electrical Sky Parade, a new nighttime show that pays homage to The Main Street Electrical Parade but using drones and the castle projection setup.

I know the drones do seem to be getting rolled out a lot at DLP recently, but I think this is a really cool next step. Given how impressive D-Light seemed just two years ago, this seems like a massive upgrade. It’s also the first time they have put additional effects besides just lighting on the drones, with some carrying smoke effects and even pyros.

Currently the show is scheduled to run until 30th September 2024.
 
D-Light was genuinely fantastic, however I am in awe of this, one of the best things to come out of DLP in years. Loving all the throw backs to the Main Street Electrical Parade, it gives a real sense of nostalgia. Quite incredible what they can do with the drones, it's a step up from D-Light. Scary thing is that it's still fairly new tech, so who knows what they'll be able to do in a few more years!

Also quite fitting seeing this having just watched the nighttime spectacular episode of Behind the Attraction on Disney+!

There's strong rumours of a new coaster being considered for Tomorrowland. It would sit on an unused piece of land at the back of the area and be themed to Star Wars Speed bikes I believe.
If this happens I think Space Mountain will almost certainly be restored back to JV.

This rumour actually makes a lot of sense too given they have apparently scrapped the mini Galaxy's edge they were considering for the Studios park expansion alongside the Frozen land. There's now rumours they are considering another IP in that location instead too.

Just wish they'd bleeding get on with it though. I'd like to be young enough to still be able to take my son with us. He's nearly 10 but at the rate Disney build this could still not be complete by the time he's 16.

Universal are running laps on them currently. It's actually embarrassing.

Very cool but to me VR will never ever beat the real thing no matter how good it gets.

My son has the Oculus which is a great piece of kit and he loves it but I just can't do longer than 20 mins without needing a break.

Give me a dark ride in the flesh all day long.

I know it's early days for the tech, but the gentle and careful shuffling is absolutely hilarious to watch. It works great!... If you take very small and precise baby steps.
 
So Disneyland Hotel reopened today after it's refurbishment and unfortunately I have to say I'm disappointed in the result. The Victorian theme has now gone and been replaced with a rather generic royal castle theme. A lot of the 'royal' touches and themeing look quite tacky with random Disney portraits around the rooms. Cafe Fantasia has been stripped of it's beautiful theming and now looks like any other bar you'd find elsewhere. It also can't really decide what style it wants to go for as some parts of the hotel are dark wood, others blue, others silver and then beige whereas before a white pastel scheme covered the hotel to match the exterior.

I think it all looks rather bland and uninspiring unfortunately 😟
 
I saw a video of the bar replacing Cafe Fantasia... looks awful! From a well-themed, inviting bar area to something fitting for a hotel next to the airport. For shame.

Sadly this seems to be Disney's operating style these days, look at the Jazz Kitchen in Anaheim for another example of something charming turned into something generic.
 
Does anyone have any experience of travelling from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Disneyland Paris? Booked for June but flight isn't due to arrive in Paris until 19:40 and according to trainline the last direct train from the airport to the resort is at 20:00? Is that correct? Surely there is later direct trains?

Are you looking at TGV trains? Try looking at the RER instead - it’s a longer journey that requires a change but will run later.

Otherwise a private transfer might be worth looking at.

Thanks will do another search! Might just uber it anyway judging by train prices 😭
 
The RER will almost certainly run later, and can get you from CdG to Marne La Vallée Chessy (the station at Disneyland Paris) for about €20 per person.

But there is no direct RER line that goes between the airport and DLP. You’ll basically have to take Line B into central Paris and then change onto Line A to get to DLP. Because of this it will take a while compared to the TGV.

Here’s a link to an itinerary for the journey. Just change the date and time to suit when you’ll be travelling.

Basically, if you’ve never used them before, TGVs are the high-speed mainline trains, whereas the RER is more akin to something like London Overground. It’s probably the easiest way to describe them.
