Disneyland Paris: General Discussion
Oh really is it as far away as that?
Hopefully they remove it soon. I haven’t yet ridden, will be doing next Saturday. But can’t wair to hopefully get the original back.
Having finally got to ride Hyperspace Mountain twice yesterday, after a 2 hour breakdown happened during my FP slot, these are my thoughts:
-The new trains and new restraints have brought the ride back to life. It will never be smooth in a B and M sense, but it’s not as close at will ever be to that. The best restraints are great, no head banging, and the design of the trains look beautiful.
- the Star Wars theme is rubbish. You can actually see the TVs as you move past them on the coaster. Please, for god sake return to the JV theme
- on the above, the trains are branded Columbiad and have all the designs of the original style, which gives me hope that they will be binning off the Star Wars Theme. As you move through the queue, especially in the final ‘lounge’ area, much of the original theming is still in place, and looking immaculate. Also as you hit the break run, the sign for the French sounding thing which slows you down in the original Jules Verne version, the deaccelator thing, anyway the sun is still there as you hit the break run and looks in good nick. So hopefully the old JV theme is returning.

A successor to Cathrine Powell has been announced today. Natacha Rafalski was revealed to be taking up the position (with immediate effect) of Présidente of Disneyland Paris in a press release today. Previously she had held the role of Chief Financial Officer since joining Disneyland Paris in 2017 and had also been responsible for a number of other key areas such as real estate, transformation, corporate alliances and operating participants.

I have some more DLP-related news for you all; according to Screamscape, the park have recently confirmed the permanent closure of two attractions; Art of Animation on 7th January 2019 and Armageddon on 1st April 2019. Here's what Lance had to say on the matter:

I wonder if that is partially to allow for demolition of the street scenes and widen the pathway through to the new lake?
My money would be on them using the building for a sit down restaurant. It would fill a gap whilst they have Restaurant des Stars closed for the Marvel rebuild. Presumably RdStars will reopen as a character meal restaurant (?), so a straight sit down option could do well long term.

Splash Mountain (or at least, a Thunder Mesa equivalent) and Indiana Jones in some description would surely be the most likely?
Then again, we could see something like Little Mermaid come into Fantasyland in the space between it and Discoveryland...
Given that the Studios are getting the majority of the attention understandably, the main park does need new blood in it... Even if it's rehashed old blood...
EDIT - I don't see FB/Twitter at work so had no idea that the rumour was a clone of the Mickey Mouse Train thing at Florida, which I'm not sure on at all as there's little to no info on it... Let's be honest though we just want a Beauty and the Beast ride a la Tokyo...

If DLP ever get that clone of the Indy dark ride they were supposed to have, I might actually consider a return to the place.
... And then I remembered that this is Disney. They'd never base a new ride on a 30 year old IP when they have their modern bastardisation of the franchise to promote.

Given that both Marvel and Star Wars are going in the Studios I'm not sure which alternative modern franchise they could stuff onto a ride like Indy...

Erm Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Poohs Honey Hunt, Ariels Undersea adventure, Mickey and Mini’s train thingie I can’t remeber the name of. All IP’s well over 20yrs old with rides built recently.
Disney don’t care about the age of the IP they are using, they care whether guests are interested enough to buy linked merchandise.

Don’t forget the Beuty and the Beast ride is based on the animated film, despite the live action remake recently releasing (meaning the ride would have started production before the films release but during its production.
Disney are not Universal. They are both obsessed with IPs but Disney have a massive back catalogue that are still relevant. They also love the chance to do something original but sadly it’s mainly the Asian parks that want to take that risk on a big budget attraction.

The second attraction will be themed to Indiana Jones, I’m certain of that. Apparently, originally two rides were considered for Adventureland – one a dark ride themed to Indiana Jones, the other a Splash Mountain style water ride themed to Moana. A lot of people assumed Disney would go with the Moana one because the IP is recent, and more importantly, it would sell merch. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
So, it seems we’ll get the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction currently in the works at Hollywood Studios, and presumably a surrounding Toon Town themed area (which I’m not particularly happy with to be honest, as the style of that land does not fit the aesthetic of Parc Disneyland at all), and then very soon after, Indiana Jones in Adventureland (which I’m much happier with, it would finally complete the Indiana Jones mini-land that had always been intended for that area of the park).

Last night DLP ran their second "Insidears" event which revealed lots of future plans and information. Lots was announced, including:
- Phantom Manor will finally re-open from it's mammoth refurbishment on 3rd May 2019.
- In a rather odd move the Tram Tour in WDS will be re-themed to the Cars film franchise in 2020. As part of this refurbishment the attractions entrance will be moved (most likely to the Toon Studio part of the park) making space for the planned route to the new lake area of the park.
- For Halloween season 2019 Tower of Terror will feature random drop sequences as opposed to the same sequence you get each time now.
- Autopia is undergoing a renovation at the moment and the park announced this will re-open in September. Strangely there was no mention of replacing the cars for electric ones.
- Art of Animation (which closed in Jan) is re-themed into "Animation Celebration" and will reopen in late 2019. The attraction will be themed to Frozen will three show rooms where you can interact with Elsa, Ana and Olaf. I am thinking it will be along the lines of Enchanted Tales with Belle at WDW.
- Season of Lion King & Jungle Book comes to Disneyland Park this summer, with a new Lion King show in the rebuilt Chapparel theatre with over 30 performers. The village area around the theatre that pretty much sits abandoned has also been redone and will be open during this season. A new Jungle parade with new floats will also run.
- Disney Village will be redesigned - concept art to be released soon (I am sure they have said this many times before!)
- The DLP app will soon be updated and over time new features will be added - such as fastpass booking, hotel check-in and room key and indicators as how busy restaurants are in live time.
- The Emporium shop on Main Street will soon close for a major refurbishment

They can't afford to get rid of the tram tour until the other stuff is ready. Catastrophe Canyon with Mack as the big red truck makes some sense as a quick and cheap retheme for 4 or 5 years whilst the park is rebuilt.
The Autopia cars are generally quite new and hybrids (http://disneylandparis-news.com/lattraction-autopia-passe-en-mode-hybride/), so I doubt they are replacing them in one big swap out, if at all.
