Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

So this confirms that the Star Wars expansion is dead for Paris then, yes?

Anyone understand why? Lion king is an odd choice considering its not a zoo park like Animal Kingdom. I'm so disappointed, I get Galaxy's edge might have been criticised but it doesn't mean there's no hunger for star wars, just for that design. I understand that if you don't include a known destination it won't be as dated as films become old, but apart from the Millennium falcon it didn't really feel Star Warsy, especially the bazaar/shopping bit. Why not build a tatooine? It features in all 3 trilogies.
there is already a cheap star wars "land" in the castle park in tomorrow land (they butched a lot of the original themeing on the cheap basically putting banners accross old signs with starwars and not thinking much of the theme) the lion king water ride also makes sense, there is currently no water ride that gets you wet (pirates dosn't) and is probably required on the days when France goes to like 35+, There are very few starwars areas that could host a water ride and tie it into the story (a lot of the planets are quite dry).

and they do have to legally build a third park some time in the future (depending on when the government stops defering it) so they could try to make a whole starwars park (I think it could work well if done properly) or make it a land

also starwars is a dying brand, a lot of people have lost intrest and aren't that intrested in it after all of the movies and TV shows on disney +

Of course, but a new design means spending a ton of money and since they already did Galaxy's Edge it would be for a land that could only go in Paris and then maybe some of the Asian parks. A massive shame that Galaxy's Edge precludes them from just doing The Original Trilogy But As Rides for the foreseeable future, and possibly at all.

The fact that Disney somehow managed to mess up Star Wars In Theme Parks is a fumble that will be studied for generations. I like Galaxy's Edge well enough but the gap between what could have easily been and what we got is bigger than the Death Star trench.

I thought it was generally considered Avatar would/could be on the other expansion pad at studios?

Given there’s another 3 films to go, I could see it happening. Flight of passage is a pretty safe ride system and developed in house so would be a sensible option.

And there were rumours of galaxies edge going in the corner of tomorrow land on a car park at one point? Could give the much needed boost to that park.

Avatar is defiantly the strongest current rumour for the third expansion around the lake following the Lion King. I would think a copy of flight of passage would be what they would do, rather than a copy of the planned E-Ticket level boat ride going to California (expected to use Shanghai’s pirates ride system) as the other two expansion frozen and lion king are both boat rides.

Also the Avatar films did extremely well in France way and for way of water highest grossing country outside of the US and China. Which is unusual for France to be the third highest grossing.

Even if it is Avatar it will be 10 years away minimum. 😂

It's probably going to take them what remains of the decade to get Lion King done.
