I'd imagine they want it sorted now so if the old business does go into administration (which seems likely) then they'll be able to claim some of the fine, if it happened after administration they might not be entitled to anything.

Presumably that's because an administration without any real assets will end in a liquidation which is bad.

No, they won't. The company they own, Drayton Manor Park Ltd, will be fined. Given that company is in Administration, whatever is fined will become an unsecured claim against the company, and end up being paid to the tune of a tiny fraction of whatever it is set as; if at all.

The directors of that company, past and present, have no personal liability or legal culpability in this plea whatsoever.

That’s what I said when it does go to Court whatever fine they get will go to Drayton Manor Park ltd not Drayton Manor resort Ltd

It’s shocking how much Drayton owe the banks as they really been in debt since 2000

Very sad news.

How on earth does a fire start in a toilet block though? Faulty wiring perhaps?

Surely this is the end now for them. What a nightmare they've had for last few years. The rapids tragedy, the flood, covid and now this...
 
It's true that Drayton Manor have had their worst year in the 70 years they've been around, maybe except for 2017.

The fire started in the Thomas Land expansion toilets, most likely due to a fault with electrical heaters. The fire has been known to spread to a nearby Thomas Land shop but no rides have been reported to be damaged.

One thing you've got to keep in mind however is the smoke damage. It's not something you think about much until you realise the damage is can actually cause.
 
Last night was a weird one when watching the updates, I understand and respect there are big adult followers of Thomas. But It’s the whole watching people go crazy about the Thomas exhibition that was something I was not expecting it. As I said I fully respect if that’s your hobby/lifestyle but to honestly get more concerned about wether a toy train has melted then if the park was damaged or if the animals was safe was something I was not expecting.

I've heard that the park won't be opening for February Half Term next year, however this decision was made before the fire. I can see them not even opening for March if I'm being honest.
 
Statement from Staffordshire Fire & Rescue:

Fire crews were called at 10.30pm on Tuesday (15 December) to reports of a fire at Drayton Manor theme park.

Four water pumps, a water carrier and an aerial platform attended the blaze at a toilet block in an area of the park.

The fire, which covered an area of 30m by 10m, was fast to develop due to the wooden roof construction of the building.

Flames were approximately 25 to 30m in height at the peak of the fire.

A total of 28 fire service personnel attended the scene, with the blaze put out at approximately 2am on Wednesday 16 December.

The fire was put out after crews broke through the roof of an adjoining building and used jets to prevent the blaze from spreading.

A fire appliance remained at the site, damping down hotspots, all night and this morning, in order to support the fire investigation.

Incident Commander Stuart Ruckledge said: “When I arrived I was concerned about the embers from the wooden roof structure catching on other nearby buildings, but thanks to the quick work of the first crews at the scene, Tamworth and Mercia, we were able to stop the spread.

“The on-site theme park staff were also very helpful in allowing us to use a golf buggy to run our hose and portable pumps across the site, were on hand to isolate the electrics and also answered questions about what was in certain areas including anything hazardous to crews.”

“Fire Safety Officers will support the park management during this already stressful time to ensure that further incidents are avoided."
