Drayton Manor Park

Think it's fairly obvious that it was never going to be sold. They tried but ultimately nobody is going to buy that ride second hand as good as it is. It just wouldn't make good economic sense and it's hardly like brand new drop towers are going to clean a park out of money.

Ol' Poccy is soon going to be scrap metal. Such a shame really but I suppose appreciate it for what's its been and get your last rides in why you can. Always thought the seated position was good anyway. Standing up just a gimmick. It's the suspense and fall that's the real attraction not standing up.

I'll certainly be taking some rides on Apocalypse this year if I get down to Drayton in the summer as I'm hoping I will. As much as I'll admit I didn't quite get the hype for it when I first did it in 2018 (personally, I prefer both Venom and Detonator within the UK, and I also preferred HPWW's HangOver), it was still a great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed; probably my favourite ride at Drayton from memory, so it will be missed!

However, I'm willing to concede that it's becoming increasingly orphaned from the rest of the park, what with Drayton's move towards the families, so I think its removal is probably the right move for them in the long term.

I wonder if they will decide to built a smaller sit down drop tower with a 1.2m tall requirement as part of the plans for the 2023 big project?
I do wonder what there plans for 2024 and 25 will be as unless they are for the zoo improvements and new attractions in Thomas land. The looping group haven’t got much more room to built on unless they decide to remove Pirate Cove completely and theme the pirate Adventure building to a new theme with the Dodgems also been rethemed and the Jolly Buccaneer removed or rethemed.

Yeah a small pirate themed drop tower would be a good idea, although it is basically Detonator!
Drayton are in need of a few more family-thrill rides I think for older kids and that would be a good option at the top of the scary range for most kids.

The old Klondike coaster I think was a good fit for the park and still would be, in the similar way to Rattlesnake at Chessington, its more fun than it looks and is a good starter coaster.

I miss Klondike, it was my first ever roller coaster with an invert. Little rough round the edges, but fun and a little scary to me as a child. Nice stop gap before getting brave enough for Shockwave and some of the other bigger flat rides at the time. There’s nothing like that at Drayton for older children now.

I wouldn’t have thought Private Adventure would really fit with their new family focused approach.
Maybe they should re-theme to The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists then? 😛😉
Whoever is manning Drayton's Twitter page at the moment is brilliant. Some of their responses to people's replies on that post are pure gold. 🤣

It could be a boat ride that brain washes young adults in joining the army or navy. Come ride the private adventure where you see the many different roles you could do in the army or navy.
I do think a big dark water ride is the only thing that can really bring the crowds flooding back to the park as it’s something that can’t be offered anywhere else in the uk without getting soaked at Blackpool.
Like Coasters are good but the looping group unless they gonna buy a 2nd hand coaster ain’t gonna build any coaster which is better than Spinball, Thirteen and Wickerman. Maybe a spinning coaster or a compact coaster like Marble madness at pleasure wood hills.

So we've got the rethemed Buffalo, the Disko Coaster and the Nebulaz. The only thing I'm not sure about is what SLEIPNIR is exactly.

The area CGI looks good. I notice that the Buffalo train is different in that photo, I wonder if that means they have re-themed the train or maybe even got a new one?
