Drayton Manor Park

I'm just interested by the concept of themed hotel rooms. I know they did this for Thomas land, but otherwise the hotel is basically just a premier inn. Its an interesting idea, and I hope they expand it for other areas like adventure cove and any new areas that they build, as I really think that is what the hotel needs to make it into something actually worth staying in for those visiting from a long distance, as at the moment, it doesn't offer much over cheaper hotels in the area. Combined with the stay and play deal it certainly makes it a very interesting prospect.

Given the construction time and the fact that this is sandwiched between two other significant projects, it’s kind of what I expected. There’s a limit to what you can build in less than six months. I think realistically Adventure Cove was a priority. Beyond that I suppose the choice was between one mega project or two mid sized projects (this and whatever the major ride is next year). They’re certainly going to have reshaped the park in a short space of time.

You can only tell so much from an artist’s impression. Sometimes little details like themed bins and 3D signage can make a real difference. I really like Drayton Manor and they have done some very innovative rides, well themed queues etc, but one thing that was often lacking was music. If this area has a good use of music and sound effects it’ll help bring it to life. It’s hard to tell from the image how much theming the horse ride will have.

I definitely see the hotel rooms as an unexpected bonus.

I suppose there are three areas where you could say the theming might be lacking. The entrance feature seems reasonable and I like the fact the Buffalo’s going over it. But would a taller entrance with a tunnel for the Buffalo have been more impressive? Could the Disko Coaster have more theming? Kobra at Chessington looks good with the big snakes. Look at DiskObelix at Parc Asterix, or the Viking themed Disko Coaster at Holiday Park.

I suppose the third thing they could have done is to give the area more of a berm.

What this does do is bring the park’s ride count back up and create another immersive area. Would they have been better off waiting another year, spending more on it and not bothering with a new coaster next year (if that’s what they’re doing)? Or did they need to maintain the momentum from Adventure Cove?

That new pathway that’s gone in at the side of the main entrance to the car parks is for the hotel guests and car park 2 and when the new area is open they gonna close the top entrance for good.

I would assume that they'll keep it as an emergency exit?
There a gate by drunken barrels which they can open up if they need to empty the park very quickly.
They could be closing it as after the adventure cove final work is finished and Viking’s is fully open as they may start on Demolition of buildings for the big project for next year.

Looks to be a good investment on the back of adventure cove last year. DMP seems to be heading in a good direction at the moment.

It could be a boat ride that brain washes young adults in joining the army or navy. Come ride the private adventure where you see the many different roles you could do in the army or navy.

I never thought I'd see someone suggest "Yvan eht Noij - the ride" on the forum.

Without going off topic it’s a win/win this agreement with Shawn and Drayton Manor. Drayton don’t have to pay Shawn a penny but have agreed that he gets exclusive construction videos and he gets paid by ad’s and views and Drayton get free marketing as his video will get shared on all social media platforms and the park don’t have to do a thing.

Fair play to the guy. He's turned his hobby and passion into a decent paying career.

Parks are now paying him to attend as well as it's next to free publicity for them. Winner winner chicken dinner as they say.

I imagine we might start to hear about the 2023 project pretty soon too if it's going to be a coaster as many are predicting it will be.

Surely there will need to start making preparations for it during the 2022 season if that's what is coming.
Well there must be plans already drawn up as there’s markings all over the Pandemonium, Test track and Apocalypse site
