Drayton Manor Park

I’m wondering with Drayton hosting there 1st ever night Halloween experience and making it 14+ they seeing how popular the park is for families with teenagers.
Also my daughter who is 10 has hit the 1.4m mark so they could easily think about installing coasters and thrill rides with a 1.4m height requirement.

I think it’s a shame that Apocalypse is going. But it’s felt like a square peg in a round hole for some time now. It’s also a shadow of its former self and is desperately sad to see. That whole end of the park has felt forgotten and unloved for a long time, bar the recent Vikings investment, but even then, it included a ride that is well past its sell by date, even though the re theme was done well. The Pirate theme is very loose (xcelerator and the haunting sticking out) and with Pirates and Excalibur still rotting away, there’s a huge amount of potential with the right level of investment. If losing Apocalypse is the trigger for that investment, I’m actually all for it. There’s a lot of talk about this “major project” and enthusiasts are already setting their expectations high. I have a huge amount of love for Drayton, it was my local park for many years, so I really do hope they pull it out of the bag!

I think they should at least give Annual pass holders at least 1 visit free or at least discounted ticket.
I use to go when it was £4 entry and I did closed season updates for Drayton Manor Plus.
The Bryan’s loved our site and we got exclusive look at future projects, behind the scenes construction pics and vip tickets for the openings.
Been confirmed on Twitter that the Zoo only tickets ARE covered under the Annual Pass.

I think they doing it right and the budget put a side each year has really started to show with Adventure Cove last year and Viking’s this year with in house staff painting of the 4D cinema and cafe building and with Sheriff showdown been painted last year. The haunting and Drunken Barrels could be done this closed season with Accelerator having a repaint for 2024 ready to join this new area as it’s in a terrible condition.
Then fingers cross they will sort out the Pirate cove area and it’s surrounding area with a new ride in the pirate adventure building for 2025/26.

Accelerator needs all its themeing burning and starting again. It'd do well as part of the pirate area but as is doesn't work at all.

Very swift trip for the final half hour today - got four rides in. Didn't venture into the park further than Accelerator but did notice (apologies if I missed it being mentioned elsewhere) but all the boats from the flying dutchman had been disconnected.

It was working on Sunday as my son loves it. Must be a major problem if it’s been stripped down and I doubt it won’t open again this season but been 40 years old next year how much longer will it stay in the park. Maybe replaced in 2024 as part of the new project.

Will hopefully do a Halloween update next Sunday while I sort out my new annual passes.

Depending on the type of crane they use, they may need part of the Dutchman site to dismantle Apocalypse.

While I am confident the ride is returning, I suspect with the 54 meter tower next door being removed, this is slightly more than annual maintenance, just the park do not want to say.

The cranes will be in there in a few weeks I suspect. Not only do they need a large space to accommodate a large crane, they also need space to to put the parts of the tower before it gets loaded onto trucks and whatever. They are large pieces, quite a bit of space is needed. I suspect this is what is going on with Dutchman site.

I did think it was for a crane but wasn’t sure if it could reach that far from the Flying Dutchman site.
They not messing around and with only select rides open and Thomas land from the 1st Nov to the 23th they could easily remove the ride, building and queue line as well as Pandemonium’s and the lease for the Test track area for HB games is up at the end of the season unless they want to move it to another part of the park or zoo and pay for another 5 years lease.
