Drayton Manor Park

Because it will ultimately be used to replace real creativity, which leads to boring uninspired entertainment or “slop”
That's not true. If there is ever a resilient industry, it is the creative arts.

The most popular and commercially successful song of 2007, Rhianna's "Umbrella" is based on a Garage Band stock drum loop. It is still a banger of a song.

AI can only presently generate on the whim of a creative, or cannot create output without us. Creatives also stitch it together. There will be artists who create art with the assistance of AI generation, much as there are artists who use stock components or other tools. Many musicians cannot play an actual musical instrument, but it hasn't destroyed their creativity.

Recorded music didn't destroy concert musicians. Film and television didn't destroy theatre. Immersive video games haven't killed films. Podcasts didn't kill the radio. Video didn't kill the radio star. YouTube and Netflix didn't kill television.

AI is a tool. It is here, it cannot be stopped, it cannot be put into a bottle. Learn how to work with it, not against it.

On topic. We still do not definitively know if AI generated imagery was used in Drayton Manor Park and Zoo's display.

I don’t like the use of AI because the content that’s been produced is strongly in the uncanny valley and incredibly jarring, there’s no consistent art style and the AI hallucinations are really obvious.

The permanent infrastructure is great though, it shows they are actually investing in a regular late-night offering. We’ve been wanting Towers to offer a late-night show for years but there’s been so many explanations why it couldn’t happen from budget to public interest. The fact that Drayton has pulled it off is brilliant and really sets the precedent for other parks now.

Drayton have have had very good late night entertainment this year with there great firework displays. I really do love the setting of the lake with rides dotted around the outside

Just a reminder this is a thread about Drayton Manor. It’s fine to talk about the use of AI in the park, but things are turning into a wider chat about AI use. We have off topic forums to enable that discussion, rather than using park specific topics. Thanks :)

I went to Drayton Manor back in August but I couldn't go into the museum (queues were bad that day, I only went on The Wave and Storm force 10!). Does anyone have photos or descriptions of the place?

The Musuem featured many theming pieces from several past rides the Cable Car, Excalibur Knight, Apocalypse even Pirate Adventure stuff.

Also had the theatre play a rolling movie explaining the parks past, present and future.

And several pictures feature concepts of Excalibur, Thomas Land and Pirate Adventure.

More intresting the concepts for Vikings and Frontier Falls which looks almost the same however few things were clearly scaled down from the original concepts

Drayton have posted they will be doing black Friday deals starting the 20th and also releasing a brand new pass no information about what the new pass is anywhere

Drayton have confirmed to Platinum passholders today that it is being retired tomorrow and replaced with the Ultimate Pass which will include Waterwold on top of the current offering with the Safari Park.
I wonder if this will see a jump in price on what was the platinum pass. Its the first time there has been any direct competition for the merlin pass. These are 3 good attractions all within about 1 hour of each other, so could be more appealing to anyone living near Birmingham.

I believe it is £199 in the opening Black Friday sale, RRP £249.

I know the weather was awful on Saturday but on Sunday we were there for 3 hours and the park was dead.
Having Vikings only open 2 hrs a day (4pm to 6pm) and been a extra charge as part of the Elf village for £20 didn’t go down well with guests as when we arrived at 2:15 Gold Rush and Accelerator was having technical difficulties and didn’t open while we were there. The Wave, wave swinger, air race, jolly Buccaneer, Dodgems, Sheriff showdown and half of Thomas land closed at 4pm.
Maelstrom and the rest of Thomas land closed at 5pm which only left the carousel and the Bounty which closed at 6pm.
TTWW stayed to the end as they were talking with the staff and showing them George.

Looking at Draytons recent investments in a multi dimension coaster, new lake show, better winter event and link up with waterworld, they’re really coming out swinging for the folks in the Staffordshire moorlands.

I still think the park lacks a major family/thrill dark ride to really get them going but given the possibility for sensible growth (zoo removal) and hopefully completion of development all the way around the lake there’s bags of untapped potential.

And I’d imagine given WMSP nearish by they won’t want to cannibalise their offering.
