This is something I remember from my English classes in Year 8, though it was probably covered sooner than that - it's just the earliest I can remember. Make a point, provide evidence for it, explain how it links to your point. I'm not saying we should get massive essays on here all the time - just citing your sources is good enough.

My only concern its closing around the same time when Bubbleworks closed...
What difference does that make? It just closing it just after the summer season so that it can reopen next year..
My concern is that they are closing it at the time there other major dark ride is broken. Some of there coasters are having reliability issues and they've had to hire in fairground rides to sort out the capacity problems. They are going to have to bring at least something in for the rest of the season surely? Another retro-squad maybe?

I can't think that has an relevance whatsoever!?
It will be closing before the end of the season so that they have time to carry out whatever work needs to be done, hopefully with the aim of it being open again in March 2023.

It’s the first day the schools go back, accounting for a training day on the Monday.

EDIT thinking about it, the 5th and 6th could be school inset days as it's the start of the school year

I would assume they are closing based on the date the contractors are starting. So assume Wednesday the 7th, no point closing it earlier than they have to.

I'm surprised no one's pointed out that the photos by Michael P Elay, AKA, the biggest Haunted House fan out there, he even puts me to shame. He's known to have a lot of insight info of the rides construction and behind the scenes photos. I wonder if he's involved with this Duels future potentially?
He also wrote the 'Smoke and Mirrors, The Haunted House of Alton Towers!' If he is involved with Duels refurb, why would he be excited if the ride was going to be I'D or ripped out and rethemed?
Well let's hope so, because if not they are going to have some serious problems. If not then they should delay this until after the nemesis refurb or until they've got some attractions to take the hit.

Sussed it, Towers have expanded their IP contract with the BBC, Duel to be converted to a ride-through house guessing game - 4 different "celebrities" you have to guess who's house it is and at the end a monsterous Richard Madeley animatronic reveals the correct answer. Far more horrific and scary than any haunted house ever conceived.

Do you have any thoughts on what exactly they might be doing? Do you think it is more likely to be a retheme, or a “revival” of the original HH?

If they want it done before Nemesis closes, how will they get into the Trommel?
