Efteling: General Discussion

Interestingly though, it looks like CSM have done a lot of track and support fabrication work on other coasters too. Helix, Pulsar, De Vliegende Hollander (I'm assuming that's the recent retrack) and also it seems some support work on Blue Fire was done by them too. I'd say it's in relatively good hands, and they're working from Vekoma's own specs :)

Is it only me who finds Bob a very amusing name for a roller coaster?

In other Efteling-related news, they have actually found a better use for VR in a theme park than putting it on a roller coaster. Efteling are providing a VR experience of Droomvulcht (I think that's how you spell it!) for disabled guests. It is in a separate room, but gives disabled guests the experience of the ride. I think this is a brilliant idea. More parks should do this sort of VR instead of shoehorning it onto perfectly fine coasters. Although I do find it strange, as Efteling have previously said that they are against VR in theme parks.

*cough* previous page *cough* :p

It is indeed a really good idea though, use of VR that actually has real benefits for guests.

:)

Think they're pretty limited to where they can put the bigger stuff given the town/village being right over the road from the Vogel Rok boundary...

Would certainly explain why everything on that edge of the park is indoors/tiny...

So the expansion area is indeed across an existing road, it is going to be interesting to see how they integrate it with the rest of the park. It could end up feeling quite seperate, unless of course they move the road!

:)

Last year it was reported by Looopings that the 2020 coaster at Efteling would be a large thrill coaster. However it seems that this is incorrect, one of the park directors has said this:

"We are going to develop the first three hectares of that area so that it can be opened to the public in 2020. Then the new attraction must also be ready.

It will not be a little one, but certainly not sixty meters high and not even shrieking"

So it may not even be a coaster! The new area will use the same travelling theme as the existing Reizenrijk area. Some form of annoucement is expected before the summer.

In other news, it would appear that the future of The Bob is safe for now! The coaster has been closed since November 14th last year and will remain closed until April 1st. The Bob has been suffering with a lot of technical difficulties and Efteling are hoping that they can solve these over this extended closure of the ride.

:)

Efteling certainly aren't hanging about with Python, new track is being put in place:

The new track looks somewhat bulkier than the existing track.

:)
