Efteling: General Discussion

After the pre-lift drop it really engages the lift with a heavy clunk, which I imagine is what the issues were all about. Clumsy design.

Yeah i do remember that and briefly worrying that it had got stuck.

Also don't want to jinx it but looks like Danse Macabre hasn't gone down once since opening which is very impressive for a prototype.

It's certainly becoming more popular for people from the UK to visit, had one work colleague asking me what it's like to visit, and then the next day another telling me they've booked to go next year.

Makes me think I really need to book myself a visit having not been since 2019.

Definitely - I would say it’s now the second most heard of European park behind Disneyland Paris! Their marketing in the UK seems to be working!

Take this with boulder of salt, like enough salt to block out the sun, but my partner (who is dutch) informed me of a rumour she had seen going around on various dutch efteling related social media that perhaps Fata Morgana could be the next attraction to go to make way for something new or at least a complete redo.

The rumour has it that apparently though a refurb of the attraction was planned and even announced publicly that the building itself has many problems that could potentially cause a problem in the near future. Couple that with the costs of fixing a lot of the worn down animatronics and some of the effects not working as they should do (as well as rising fears that it's not the most culturally sensitive portrayal of the region it represents) and it seems like it could have at least a little merit to it.

Found one english video covering the potential rumour a little bit (if you go to 23.55 mark)

Removing Fata certainly would surprise me, however with the expansion plans being stalled perhaps there is some merit to it.
Well it seems it's more the case of something will need to be done to the ride sooner or later since it needs very heavy refurbishments and like you said with other plans being stalled they may simply go all in on making a new version as their big new attraction. From the sounds it sounds like more of a Duel to Curse type situation rather than knock the whole thing down and putting something new there, still the same theme and setting but with a lot of what is currently there being ripped out.

Who knows though, may turn out to be nothing, probably won't hear anything until late next year (if ever) at the earliest with danse being the big new thing

Why is dreamflight’s ride system like that? You aren’t even that high off the ground! Why is it so noisy?

Is it just for the helix at the end..?

How is everyones Dutch geography? Efteling is in the South region of Netherlands i believe? Just looking at booking again for summer 2025 and it looks like the South region school holidays end Aug 17th so presume the following 2 weeks will be quieter (pretty sure that's what we did this year and it was very tolerable).

Hmm possibly but it's a pretty small country and the other regions will be off until later in August. It's becoming more and more popular with Brits as well. You could go after Aug 24th as then there's only one region still on holidays.

Having said that, Efteling copes pretty well with crowds even at busy periods due to the number of rides and non-ride attractions.
