Efteling: General Discussion
Everything about it looks stunning in my opinion, from the area to the show building, to the queue line, to the interior and the shop. Looks a tremendous addition.
I’ve read it was a €25m investment, has there been any indication of how much of that was the ride hardware itself and how much was all the theming and ancillary costs?

Quite a funny video from them here of the gates being opened and people running full pelt:

We’ve had time to think about it, here’s a brief “review”
It’s not a thrill ride. But it is absolutely gorgeous and took my breath away. Brilliant.
I’ll add photos when we’re back home just in case they don’t tag as spoilers.
The theming is amazing. There’s so much to look at in the queue, grave stones, bats, animatronic cat, planting, herb garden, detail such as dented down pipes, it’s all amazing.
Queue moved at a slow shuffle - I find this much less irritating than a queue that stop starts.
There is a pre show of sorts, all in Dutch, but seems somebody messed with spirits they shouldn’t have, and everyone dies 13 Oct 1876.
You then go onto a wooden bridge into the woods with howling wolf noises and loud rumblings before entering the building. You’re batched and step forwards. The building is DARK. Flickering torches add atmosphere. You then go into the main hall which is HUGE. I can’t even think of something to compare it with. We got front row, but I’m not sure it would matter.
I can’t really describe just how amazing what happens is. You spin, you tilt, you lift and drop, there’s animatronics everywhere, there’s a ghost, a huge organ (ARF) and it’s just amazing. Didn’t make us dizzy, but was absolutely amazing. I’ve never seen anything this good.

Big flaw though seems to be that minimum height being 1.2m.
That is surprising. I wonder if that's purely for the physical requirements or acting as an age guide?

Is there scenes in the bottom to see when it tilts down? Can’t see anything but can remember the video from Efteling a few years back showing that this could be done?

I saw a hazy glimpse at one in a POV. It’s either people aren’t pointing their cameras down, the effects aren’t ready or maybe a bit of bothIs there scenes in the bottom to see when it tilts down? Moving on slightly from danse macabre, we saw Caro tonight.
I’ve not paid for a theme park show before, and I’m not sure I would again. It was just a bit… odd? Some acrobatics, a bit of a story, they wove in some of the ride themes, but it was 1.5 hours long which in my view was about double what it should’ve been. Ravelijn was much more my cup of tea (even though it’s not vegan). Short, action packed, and had FUEGO.
Caro felt a little self indulgent… but maybe I’m just grouchy we missed the queue close of Danse Macabre because of it…

Right as I not been before I watched the closing day of Spooksalot before I compared the pov of the new ride and I thought it feels like a downgrade from the original attraction.

Think it's been mentioned that the effects aren't ready yet in the crypt areas.
That being said, it's understandable that the focus is in the upper levels.

Needs more explanation here. Though the Spookslot show was definitely longer (especially whilst waiting for it if timed badly), but it was very much an observation from distance attraction rather than the now ride. Guess it depends what looking for from it.

Let me reassure you as someone who experienced it first-hand that Spookslot was crap.Right as I not been before I watched the closing day of Spooksalot before I compared the pov of the new ride and I thought it feels like a downgrade from the original attraction.

So were plenty of other rides that no longer exist. Doesn't mean we can't remember them fondly.
Once upon a time Flying Fish at Thorpe Park was considered one of the most thrilling rollercoasters in the UK and required OTSR.

We rode Danse Macabre on Friday - we only queued about 45 minutes in total as we went straight there when hotel guests were allowed in.
I really enjoyed it but I wouldn’t want to wait some of the crazy queue times it is getting! I purposefully didn’t read any spoilers before going on so I had no idea what to expect. I recommend reading the storyline on the app beforehand as the preshow is only in Dutch.
