Efteling: General Discussion

Ride system looks boring to me. Probably could have handed out some of their "legal" mind bending drugs they have out there and probably had the same effect.....

What's the deal with Kumbak who made The Flying Dutchman? It seems they predominantly work on upgrading existing rides which is a solid niche but also strikes me as unusual that they made one original brilliant rollercoaster and left it at that! It's like a band who break up after a great first album.

Can we GoFund them to remake The Alton Towers Dungeon?

If I remember correctly from the time the project didn’t go to plan and the ride didn’t work, which I am sure was partly due to the lift. I think they had to bring Intamin in to fix the issues and enable them to eventual open the ride (which had been heavily delayed).

DVH is a terrible rollercoaster.

It judders, does nothing and the seating configuration is stupid.

Get Mack in.

Or get Intamin in. Divertical and Speed are better than Poseidon and Skatteoen.

KumbaK also butchered Grand National, for that crime they should all be executed.
Didn't the park have to call Intamin in to do something to DVH before it opened?

I quite enjoy the coaster section of DVH for how ludicrously it traverses the track. Credit where credit’s due, the mechanics of getting those boats to travel through the water and split for the dual loading station is pretty impressive.
They are on an underwater track with points, I believe.

RCDB has a few pictures of the ride with the lake drained - the boats appear to remain on the track throughout. There's a photo of the station here, though only the front turntable is visible and it's not fully in shot

Oh yes, you can definitely feel the track and drive as you float along; it’s the fact that all of those mechanics, not just the drive, but the moving components required for the transfer track, are all constantly submerged in water. It has got to be a maintenance headache, but even the fact that they achieved it in the first place is fairly impressive.
