Emerald Park (Formerly Tayto Park), Dublin: General Discussion

Do slightly think they've gone to all that effort with the rockwork, but then covered the ride area in ugly cable trunking. Why couldn't the cables be routed underground, or over the top further back away from the eyeline.
I get the darker colour ride structure stuff is needed and can't be obscured as easily, but the silver cable guides are badly designed and implemented.

I agree that it is a bit of an eye sore but the top has the gear house and I believe the wire trunks lead down into the ground then under the land to the power source. Not much they could do apart from paint them really.

They could have gone down the left side then underground, instead of up and over the track and then down. Also use black cable guides not shiny silver.

Hoping thats going to be tidied up.
Overall I'm very happy with the direction the parks going we went from having no proper theme parks here to one thats actively developing and improving year on year and I hope they keep it up.
I really hope when the new area opens it a success and drives them to expand to making more fully themed areas and hopefully some rethemeing throughout.

Anyone know what the status of the new coasters are? I know the park have said May for opening. I'm planning a visit in June but have not seen any testing videos or know how far all the landscaping is?

The new area opens from 22nd May.

Also today the park have announced there's a 4 part documentary Nerves Of Steel airing on RTE one starting this Friday. Looks to be focusing on the re brand from Tayto to Emerald Park.
Hopefully a British broadcaster picks it up.

I’ll post some more complete opinions later, but as a small summary:

  • Fianna Force is fantastic. Brilliant coaster.
  • The Quest is good from a layout perspective (it’s the 238m “good” family boomerang layout so wasn’t expecting anything else), but the station and queue line are clearly unfinished
  • There’s a lot of remaining construction around The Quest still to be done for the restaurant etc
  • Ch Chulainn is a very good ride but timberliners still suck

I love how low to the ground the suspended coaster gets. It goes to show you don't always need insane heights to be thrilling. I think all these additions are great and will encourage people from the UK to visit if they are over in Ireland

Visiting in a few weeks time (good old Pleasure Beach season pass) for the first ever time so excited to visit the park, feel like these coasters imminent opening has put me off of visiting the park for about 6 years what with all the delays and planning issues.

I'm also visiting Tripsdrill about 2 weeks earlier so will get to experience both Vekoma STCs in quick succession.

It's my local (albeit 100 miles away) and I haven't visited yet for the same reason. I wasn't too excited by these coasters in terms of wanting to ride them, but the suspended coaster looks fantastic - really chuffed to see such a coaster on my wee island, looking forward to getting down during the summer.

I was lucky enough to be present at yesterday's press launch. Na Fianna Force is a spectacle, both on ride and offride. I hadn't ridden the version at Tripsdrill, but what others in our group said is that this tops it and is more extreme. It's forceful, full of ejector and very snappy changes of direction! The inversions are nice and floaty also. The addition of lap bars coupled with its unique layout instantly rocket this coaster into my top 5, beating Nemesis. The first drop also completely ejects you out of your seat if you sit towards the back!

The Quest is great fun also, providing some great pockets of airtime.

It's worth noting that Tir Na Nog isn't completely finished yet, but once it is I'm sure it'll be among the best looking in Europe for its beautiful stonework and landscaping.

Hoping to get out there in the next few weeks thanks to the place being on the EP pass.

It's less than an hour flight for me out of Liverpool and only like £20 on the right day, so I've been waiting for this for a while, as good as the GG looks it isn't enough on its own to have got me over.

I thought the STC was going to be a clone of the Tripsdrill one so I'm happy to see it's actually different. It looks really good!

I just wish that there was a bus going straight from the airport to the park rather than having to go in to Dublin and then back out to the park.
