Fantasy Island: Mini Meet Ideas and Suggestions

I have been considering arranging a Mini Meet to Fantasy Island for a while, as I have never been (and neither have most people on TST).

On Saturday, 15th March 2014, Fantasy Island re-opens - with £5.00 wristbands available on the day! There are also fireworks in the evening to celebrate.

This is obviously a very good price. However, I am aware of concerns about weather conditions affecting the Millennium Coaster and Odyssey coasters at Fantasy Island.

Also, what would everyone's views be on accommodation? We could either stay a short drive away or stay in Skegness at one of many private guest houses/B&B's. There are no Travelodge/Holiday Inn/Premier Inn etc. options in Skegness.

Please post your thoughts, whether you would be interested and any ideas you have.

Two of my favourite coasters, although it's not cool to admit it, so it seems !
I was luckily enough to visit end of season last year when both were running , although Millennium went poorly while we were on the lift hill on about our fifteenth ride and was closed after that for the rest of the day.

The park is in a very exposed position and it does seem they're quick to shut Odyssey at the first excuse and it'll no doubt be "bracing" as they like to say in Skeg mid March !

They don't generally have the Odyssey running until at least Easter, but I am not sure about their plans for this year. Sometimes Millennium Coaster is not ready to run at the season start as well, but maybe they will get their house in order this year. I'd keep an eye on their Facebook page or contact them to enquire.

The only reason I would return there is to credit grab JO. As has been said, the odds of it being open are slim. So slim in fact, that as a southerner I have pretty much given up hope of ever going on the damn thing! :p

Having said that, I could be interested. Depends if I can blag a lift from someone else in this neck of the woods. Something tells me this would be more of a socialising trip than a ride whoring trip anyway. :p

I got the credit first time! Even got the illustrious Jellikins. :p I might be interested. Not sure yet.

Yeah, I got Jellyikins and the others, but not JO. Tell a lie, Queen Bee down the road was SBNO when I went to Skeg.

I am up for this considering it's local(ish) to me!

I would however suggest possibly postponing this until the summer when the weather is fairer. Wristbands may be slightly more expensive but there is more chance of JO operating then. :)

I would certainly be up for this, however wouldn't be able to do that particular date. Not that I'm suggesting it should be changed for me :p But, if you do go in summer for JO, I would certainly aim to be there!

Wouldn't mind a couple of extra credits. Last time I went... I was too short, yes, shorter than I am now! So I couldn't do Millennium and JO wasn't built. (Still probably had a better chance of operating than it does now!) ;)

Similar to Sam, I would also be up for this at some point however would not be able to make this date. I am keen to ride Odyssey (just realised that it's no longer called Jubilee Odyssey) so would definitely try and make the trip if it looked like it was going to be open.

:)

With it being my 'local' park I'd definitely be up for this sometime, I will most likely wait until summer though when there's much more chance of JO being open. Also pretty sure I have to work this weekend :(

EDIT: ^Yay

Certainly interested for a trip later on in the season, though given the distance and the cost involved, a bit of car sharing would be a must :)

I could be up for this in summer, date dependant. Would be nice to stand a chance of getting on JO and Millennium :p

It's a very very weird place and I haven't been since being a lot younger than I am now so I might be interested...

My sister has a Jellikins cred but I don't lol :(

So long as you can promise me the Jellikins credit, I'm interested :p
That weekend wasn't great for me either, as it's a bloody long way, and that's the first weekend of the F1 season, so I'll be knackered anyway.

I think I'd definitely be interested later in the year. Not sure how I'd get there easily from London, though. Hopefully a few of us could get together and sort out transportation :)

^
It IS doable on public transport, but it's not pleasant - it's at least two miles walk from Skegness station to the park. On top of that, considering it's a 'classic' seaside town, accomodation up there isn't great.
If you can get a lift, do! :)

I will be up for it, Skegness is pretty much my nearest seaside! Certainly be up for making a weekend of it, maybe a drunken night out in Skeggy :p

I went to Fantasy Island quite a bit as a child when it only had the indoor section and it was well themed, now it has rides dumped everywhere and the worlds largest crap market :p But i'm sure with TST it will be a laugh. I have done the Jubilee coaster two or three times, but never done millennium as that has always been closed when I have visited.
