I've always been curious on what everyone's favourite composer from Alton Towers were, since there does seem to be a very 50/50 on either that Graham Smart (Nemesis, Haunted House, Toyland Tours) is better than what IMAscore has produced (Smiler, Heritage, Wicker Man, Curse). There are also other smaller composer that made some great music for the park, such as Simon Allen (Duels 2018 music, The Retro Squad, Walliams World) and Ian Habgood (UG Land, Air, The Flume), and Pitstop Productions (Th13teen). Let me know who is your favourite composer Alton towers had in its many years.

I'm not sure Simon Allen should be forgiven for "Summer of Fun".

Is any of Nick Hutson's music still on at Towers? I recall he's mostly done Scarefest and Christmas music in the past.

I would choose Graham Smart. IMAscore would be second.

IMAscore because Curse is the best soundtrack on park now. Gives me goosebumps
To be honest, I find Curses soundtrack pretty bland. It has its good moments, but my favourite music by IMAscore are Wicker Man and Spinball Whizzers soundtrack!

On a different note, I do find the parks in house music to be pretty overlooked as I for the most part really like them. Here's some of their work. I think out of all the composers, theirs is the most magical to me.

I believe they did Katanga Kanyons music. I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

They are all of an age and a function. Graham Smart created iconic music of the 90’s. IMA score make great theme park music for the modern era. Simon Allen is really highly competent for the sort of park music when you don’t want the cost of going to IMA (I like his themes, but the production values tend to be poorer).

And Crispin Merrell made one of the best theme park themed of all time in my opinion.

Just for your information, I was under the impression that at least some of these were done by PitStop Productions during a wider park audio overhaul in the mid to late 2000s (I seem to remember hearing that at very least, the 2008 TS soundtrack is a PitStop creation rather than an in-house one by Towers themselves). PitStop also did Thirteen’s soundtrack.

In terms of my answer to the question… I’d have to go with IMAScore. I am a sucker for an IMAScore soundtrack, and at Alton Towers, I love what they’ve produced for the park. I think that some particularly brilliant examples include Galactica, Wicker Man, the new Towers Street track, and The Curse at Alton Manor!

Who did the heritage music because that is absolutely beautiful. It's the definition of magical music

IMAscore, definitely one of my favourite of theirs.

As for my favourite Composer, it's actually neither IMAscore or Ghraham smart (but he's a close 2nd, practically tied with number 1). My top pick goes to Ian Habgood! I can't get enough of the music he did for Alton Towers, specifically Airs and the Flumes soundtrack. You could tell he really improved with his music after Ug Lands. I wish he made more music for the park before he became a filmmaker.

Air's soundtrack is really good. I am not sure if I prefer it to Galactica's music at the moment, but both are brilliant.

I used to love Galactica's soundtrack, but it just got really stale for me over the years. Good quality music, but really generic sci fi music as well, the ones that'd you'd hear in Hollywood films. Airs music is hard to describe and was really unique, and that's why I kind of like it. It has a great beat, great use of non instrumental sounds to create that beat (wind, distorted sound of birds tweeting, etc), and it really sets the atmosphere to the area personally when looking at old pictures when it was air. Shame its short though, that's my only complaint of airs soundtrack really.

Hands down, my vote goes to IMAscore! Their compositions bring magic to Alton Towers, creating an immersive experience like no other. What about you? Who's your go-to composer for that perfect theme park soundtrack?
