Flamingo Land: General Discussion

Planning permission went in yesterday apparently for the coaster. One that matches perfectly the description of the Intamin 10 looper.

I guess 2020 is looking decent for the park then. May visit myself even though I don't like the place much that much.
 
We had a season pass a few years ago before the kids hit a decent height to get Maps

Terrible place...can't handle queue's and the roads to it are terrible for traffic

Don't live too far away from it and we either got stuck in jams on the way there or on the way back....every time

Haven't been for years. It's a dreadful place. Some of the worst operations I have ever witnessed though. Staff looked absolutely miserable too.

Probably venture for the new cred though but it's just not a very appealing place at all.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if they just bought one of the old trains from Colonsucks. Thorpe would be quite happy to flog one for some cash and run their's on one train for a few years, before finally mothballing it and letting it rust (while swearing it will be back soon, honest!)

Thorpe? Being dishonest? No way! I'd also look forward to the plot of land staying empty for 5 years before it's half built on.

Well tbf other than Paultons new expansion that's about as exciting as it's likely to get.

I hate the place personally but I will visit for the new coaster as I have good memories of Collosus in its early years. Sadly they didn't last too long.
 
Documents have no been uploaded to the planning application which confirm that this is the 10 inversion Intamin coaster. Some other details:
  • Silver track and black supports
  • Set to be open for the start of the 2020 season
  • Requires planning permission as the coaster is too tall to fall under permitted development rights
This is quite exciting, should be a better version of Colossus which is not as bad as it is made out to be anyway!

Probably because it blends in with the usually grey skies we have!

It is a shame though, it would make a change to have a nicely coloured new coaster for a change.
 
This is what makes me laugh about the Theme park community. We are never happy. A regional park is getting a big scale Intamin steel coaster with 10 loops and we are already annoyed it's going to be bland to look at. Hahahaha.

Mingoland is bland all over so it will fit in nicely.

Still going to be a good coaster for a few years though. If it has the lapbars it will be a seriously good UK coaster. Right up there for me.
 
I'm a big advocate for colourful coasters but I do like the sound of a silver and black combo. Then again I don't care as I'm just happy for Mingo getting this.

I’m not sure whether I can get excited by this. In one way, it’s a reasonable size and scale of investment for the park. On the other hand, it feels like a missed opportunity to build something more interesting and innovative.

I suppose it will suit the target audience.
 
Nice nod to Corkscrew in that location. Less so Thunder Mountain one hopes.
