Flamingo Land: General Discussion

A new low.

And Gordon was only 18 when he took over. His father, who owned Flamingo Land, died in a car accident, so it was passed onto him.

Before people start saying things like "a new low" why dont we wait to find out what actually happened (if we ever do)?

Ticket touts are hardly the most honest people, are they? It could have been a case of Gordon just grabbing him by the arm and escorting him off the propery. That is usually enough for some people to claim "assault".

Argh. Wild Mouse was my first ever coaster. Ever. I need to be alone for a little while. It's like a little piece of me is dying.

A rather disturbing rumour from Screamscape:
2013 - New Coaster - Rumor - (12/5/12) Weird rumor time… as I got an e-mail claiming that Flamingo Land was planning to install a Zamperla Volare (Flying Coaster) for the 2013 season on the old Corkscrew site. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to buy one of these anymore, as they really have not been popular with guests, but can anyone confirm or deny this rumor?

For anyone unaware of what a Zamperla Volare is:

I bloody hope not!

Ewww. Zamperla Volare. It looks bad and has a poor throughput. So it'd probably be at home at Flamingoland on the basis of the latter statement, then! :p

Well, it's a ride type I've always wanted to try. And as Noonoo says, the awful throughput would be inkeeping with Mingerland's ethos...

What about a Vekoma stingray, they seem much more interesting!

Dear God no. Is this park being run by children?!

It's almost as if they're trying to be a rubbish park. The Volare is regularly found in the bottom 10 of the Mitch Hawker poll.

Flamingoland is already overloaded with low capacity mediocre coasters. The last thing they need is to build yet another one.

This is exactly what I heard was going to happen, and I prayed they wouldn't be so utterly stupid!! Why do they seem intent on destroying the progress they made years back?

If the park dies, then they'll only have themselves to blame for making poor decisions and running it into the ground.

I just do not understand the thought processes of 'Mingo! They looked to be taking steps forward in the past but they won't get anywhere with cheap, off-the-shelf, low throughput installations... Surely they would do better to hold off for a season or two and make a really big, solid investment instead.

As I said on Facebook, I love how Flamingoland are building a Zamperla Volare, the most famous example of which is currently in North Korea.

One of the rides is located in a sparsely populated land, ruined by years of gross mismanagement, low investment and economic disaster where a shell-shocked people wander around in a state of confusion and unhappiness... and the other is in North Korea!

;)

The Volare rumour popped up a few years ago. Not sure if someone's dug it up and passed it off as recent, or the park have in fact renewed their interest.

I sincerely hope not.

From looking at ones on RCDB, it looks like a Zamperla Volare would set them back about £4 million. There are so many better things to buy with that money! :p

You could buy a custom GCI for less than that.

Please Flamingoland, don't waste your money on this crap. :(
