Flamingo Land: General Discussion

Bump. Nothing too interesting, but there's a decent interview with Gordon Gibb (CEO of Flamingo Land) that you can read here:
https://blooloop.com/features/flamingo-land-gordon-gibb-loch-lomond-scarborough/
He talks a little more about the upcoming projects at Loch Lomond and in Scarborough.

I read that earlier and got bored! I am sure it is all very good for the business, just all of very little interest to me as a theme park fan.
It does appear they are doing well at the moment though, I do hope we might see some more significant development in the main theme park soon.

Interesting read especially the last part of the article ‘if we have not got the skill set we won’t short change our customers ‘

FL has improved a hell of a lot in the last decade. Their biggest problem is the lack of decent new rides.
...Well, OK, that and the opperations. And the staff. And the customers. And the lack of upkeep. And the trailer park (seriously, we must be the only country in the world where something usually viewed as sub-council estate housing for scum is considered a holiday home). And Hero...
But apart from that...

Nearly 11 years since I’ve been to Dingoland despite it being my local park when I lived in North Yorks. Hope to visit before long, to get my Velocity fix, to see if Hero really is that bad, and to get on Mumbo Jumbo and Kumali for the first time. I believe Kumali is pretty good as far as SLC’s go.
I know there’s a topic for entry offers but think it’s AT specific. Vouchers for Dingoland don’t seem that easy to come by. You can’t use Clubcard vouchers for it and I can only see 3 for 2 deals available. Anyone aware of decent offers for 2 people, such as 2 for 1 ? Thanks

To save you the trouble and the money:
-Velocity is a bit rubbish now.
-Hero really is that bad! One member on last year's meet managed the first drop and corner before screaming "This is<REDACTED> poo!". I can't think of a single redeeming feature. The queue's bad, the wait's bad, the ride is janky in the bad way, it's just a bad idea in general
-Mumbo Jumbo is easily one of the worst coasters I've done. 2 cars on a circuit designed for 4/5, with dispatch waiting until the last car returned to the brakes.
-Kumali *used* to be a good example of an SLC, but now it's as bad/worse than infusion. Coupled with the >5 minute dispatches means it's pretty lacklustre. And it only has one train, so you're in for a wait! Make sure you wave at the electrician at the top of the lift
Though to be honest, rubbish ride hardware is only half the story with FL. The biggest problem is operations, with huge waits for no reason on most rides. It's a small park, so I understand that their operations aren't going to be the same as Phantasia, but they're charging Arsenal prices for Pickering FC matches. Kumali and Velocity only have the one train, Mumbo Jumbo has 3 or 4, but only runs 2. I've sat in the garden on a boiling Saturday in the middle of the summer holidays when the park's rammed for one of the music events they put on, and timed Kumali at 10 minutes per train. They were really hammering them through on Mumbo Jumbo too, getting 250 pph.
I've also heard stories from recent employees that really make me not want to go and to stop other people going.
For vouchers, keep an eye in the gazette & herald, they sometimes run 2-4-1's in spring/summer, I think the Daily Express had one too last year

My first, and sadly last visit to this park was, well... bad, to say the least. I actually didn't even get the opertunity to ride Mumbo Jumbo and Hero as they both broke down. The Log Flume also didn't even open. The rest of the rides were just average. Nothing special. I've got to agree with much of what @Dar has said in his post.
Only thing I enjoyed was the pizza restaurant!

Went last year with mates and their kids, hadn't been in a decade, and we really enjoyed it!
Biggest part of the fun was taking small kids on big rides they hadn't done before, but the day wasnt too bad at all.
Three for two was as good as we could get, but as there was six of us it worked out well.
Just remember dippy, Hero no handed or you are a wuss.
I still have the bruises.
Wouldn't want to go back until they get a new coaster, and yes, the operations left a lot to be desired.
Not bad for a tyke park, but we tend to have more fun at Lightwater...just for t'ultimate...and the fact it is nearer to Lancashire.

Went earlier in the year. We were really quite impressed. The new area with Peter Rabbit was rather charming, F&B was very reasonable, animals and shows not too bad. It was an enjoyable day.
Having said all that it was deathly quiet and even then you could see it being horrific on an even mildly busy day.

We went last year for the first time in three or four years and had a wonderful day. The coaster selection is full of oddities, but I quite like the fact they're not your standard rides (while themselves being entirely standard). Capacity isn't great but I think each time I've been it's pretty much what it needs to be. If everything was hammering 1400ppph you'd be done by lunchtime if you were only there for the rides.
We probably did 50/50 in terms of time spent in the zoo and theme park which was a good mix and we didn't miss anything, despite the park not being dead, I think the longest we waited was 30 mins for Kumali.
I do miss Magnum & Bullet, but equally, I very much like the park that it became when they left.
