The answer is it isn’t. And it’s a much shorter time to sit next to someone than say public transport.

I'm with you on this 100%. Honestly I don't care about sitting next to someone for 90 seconds, masks are still mandatory anyway. Let's get these rides back at full capacity for good!

Will be interesting to see how they deal with guests like me who can't wear a mask for medical/disability reasons.

It's imperative that the capacity for the likes of wicker man and th13teen have been increased as you can really see the difference. It'll help even more off course when the dummies are removed.

If the guidelines are being followed they wouldn't be 'right next to you' in the queue, they'd be more distanced than the seating.

The reality is though, the guidelines largely aren't being followed and for some unknown reason most groups seem to be ignoring the markers on the floor. This seems to have been the case across all UK Merlin parks this year, making distancing on the rides themselves pretty pointless.

Exactly what I think. What's the point distancing on a ride when you're stood in an hour queue right next to people

There is no restraint on in the queue I can attempt to keep my distance or ask them to move.

also I said it’s I understand it doesn’t really make sense. It’s irrational that my brain sees them as more different.

I would also try my best to avoid sitting directly next to someone on public transport right now too.

While I don't disagree with you, two wrongs dint make a right!

While in the queue section the operator can say 'we gave advice, they didn't follow it', where as with the coaster seating the operator is facilitating and creating the breachbin social distancing. It's a very different thing.

I’ve no doubt Merlin’s entire H&S and Legal departments have gone through the government guidelines in immense detail before making the change. They must be fairly confident there’s not going to be a massively increased risk

True, I'm not against the change, just pointing out the difference between anything that might amount to a breach on a ride rather than in the queue.

It seems like another fairly quiet day today. Expect for th13teen which is bizarrely high for saying they're filling every row but the back 3 now

They have only been open an hour and with the shockingly slow parking at the moment most people will still be outside the gates!

I've got a feeling Th13teen is on 2 trains again. 5hat may explain it. Especially if they're filling the rows not sure why it's queue is so long

WM’s only on 75, so I don’t think it’s crowds alone, but it’s worth noting that Galactica, Oblivion, and the joint most notably long queue in Smiler are all currently closed, so that’s a lot of extra crowds for the rides left to take on.

Any queue time over an hour should not be referred to as 'only'!

Coaster Bot has done an operations-testing video of Towers' Big 7. Makes for interesting viewing!
