General Typos/Grammatical Errors Thread

This could be my poor understanding of the Welsh language rather than a typo, but I saw a Transport for Wales service to Manchester Piccadilly in Cardiff Central this evening that was advertising itself as heading to “Fanceinion Piccadilly”, when all of the Welsh station announcements were saying “Manceinion Piccadilly”.

As far as I’m aware, it wasn’t heading to “Fanchester”…

As I say, this could just be my poor understanding of the Welsh language, but the discrepancy with the station announcements suggests a sneaky typo to me…

On the subject of train stations, the computerised Welsh announcer at my local train station has a complete inability to say “Worcestershire Parkway”… on the odd occasions when the CrossCountry to Nottingham stops there and the announcement voice has to reel off the list of stops, it has a complete seizure when it has to say Worcestershire Parkway and instead comes out with “exclamation mark bot”…

Without knowing anything about Welsh, but a little about languages in general, this would appear to be a soft mutation of the consonant.

This involves changing the first letter of the word in agreement with the preceding word, so "a girl" is "merch" but "the girl" is "y ferch".

It's pretty familiar to most of us to alter the ends of words to agree with other words (e.g. he walks vs. they walk) but in Celtic languages it's more common to see this at the start of the word.

That's my understanding of it anyway - no doubt a Welsh speaker could explain it a lot better.

This is how AI will destroy humanity.
Awful isn't it. Art and everything as we once knew it in its honest form is about to be dead. All that I've seen AI achieve so far is to allow morons to try to make money in any arena that allows them to sit down in front of a screen and endlessly rip stuff off and press a few buttons to apparently 'create' stuff. A race to get as much automatically created crap out as quickly as possible to fill up the internet for clicks and views to attract advertising revenue. Proper sad times we're heading for.
