I still find it strange that Merlin don't release any music for their UK parks, if they do for their parks abroad. There surely must be some demand for it from geeks!

I think it's because IMAscore have created half of the music for Heide Park whereas in the UK there's only the odd track.
 
The Krake music is pretty drab to be honest - it sort of... plods... constantly...
 
Heide-Park have revealed that the 'KRAKE Lebt' live action scare maze is being retired after just 3 seasons.
 
Its a shame because it looked a very well put together and themed attraction. Couldn't they just leave it there and have it as a walk-through than close it all together. It seems a shame otherwise.

It was a good attraction, very creepy. And the submarine descending scene was amazing!
However based on what IMA score (doing a new soundtrack for Krake Lebt Kids) and Heide Park Fans, it seems it will be changed to a more family friendly walk through as apposed to closing it and not using the space
 
And now Merlin have just built I'm a celeb at thorpe, containing actors again! Any guesses how that will end in three years?
 
So after SW8 got pushed back to 2018, Merlin announced that Heide-Park would be recieving 2017s high capex investment. Well this has been announced as Ghostbusters 5D:

Fans undoubtedly welcome a dark ride, because the park has barely indoor, weatherproof attractions. The building is already there, because it is the former Spencer Hall which will be used to house the new attraction. This hall offered previously partially shelter to a LEGO shop and partly a show aimed at children.

With Ghostbusters get the park a familiar and timeless brand at home, with which it aims to families with children from 6 years. Last summer there appeared a third film in the halls. We are already curious about the effect!

Whilst it is good to see Merlin investing in another dark ride it does seem like the value of major capex investments is reducing. The IP is hardly inspiring either.

I think Ghostbusters is a decent IP to be fair (would have had that at Thorpe over Derren Brown being honest). But yeah I agree it's not really needed over something original.

Going off the artwork the car in the pictures is 1980s Cadillac Hearse which featured in the new film rather than the 50s Cadillac Professional Chassis from the original films. Then yep :(
 
As you may or may not have known, Colossos (the world's tallest wooden coaster) has been closed since July due to some form of major problem with the structure. Looopings are now reporting that it's future is somewhat uncertain:

Heide Park consults own words with "dozens of experts" on the issue. Colossos, opened in 2001, the last season was fifteen years old. The track is 1344 meters long, with a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour.

Incidentally, in Europe even more impressive wooden roller coaster stopped until further notice: Wildfire is closed on Swedish Kolmarden park due to problems with the license.

This is very concerning, it would appear that they are either not certain what the issue is or are not sure how to rectify it. It would be such a shame to lose a coaster like this, but if the fix is of a high cost then surely Merlin are a company likely to scrap it?

I don't know how much I believe that this is down to anything other than financial issues.

If it is an expensive job, they won't be able to afford it.

Call my cynical but it's one of the reasons ATR removed Ripsaw - they couldn't justify the cost.
