Hex [2024 Refurb]: General Discussion

Maybe we should set up a merch-trading kind of thread…. Or is it a bit dodgy trusting me with your money?
It's dodgy trusting me to remember. I managed to leave the park without buying the only thing I'd seen as a 'Must Have' in last year's merch, despite walking past it at least twice.

The park seem to know what they have with Hex, so I'm hoping it gets some merch outside of pin badges and magnets. Has there ever been a Hex mug?

Oh now come on, depends on how you are measuring.
According to that big yellow thing in the sky, midsummer is June 21/22...so we are indeed in summer astronomically.
Those nice weather people at the met office count June, July And August as summer, so again that is another pedantic point to Austin.
personally, as an outdoor worker dealing with nature, due to climate change and general weather faff of the highest order, most outdoor workers count May, June July and August as the summer season, so to some, the summer is a month old, and we have been using sunscreen for longer than a month.
Personally, due to individual circumstances...it is towards the twelfth night of Christmas, so early January.

And back on topic yet again, merely to avoid whipping, it is bloody summer.
It is now peak season, school trip zone with leavers and students, with pass holders aplenty.
Flats have gone, other stuff should be compensating...

Probably waiting for another ride to cease operating to use the same staff...

I don’t know where this budget causing closed rides idea keeps coming from. The budget was set for Hex and Skyride to open this year, you can tell that from all the external work that was done (refresh of the Skyride signs, new signs in hex’s external queue).

If staff budget was a problem they would have known that before that work was signed off:

Doesn’t open in summer? Or doesn’t open again?

I’m certain they want it reopened but my gut feeling is the problem Hex is having is much deeper than both Towers and Vekoma originally thought.

I'm not saying anything has been done deliberately, but the cost saving of not running the skyride is peanuts compared to a bit of paint...that needed doing anyway.
Times that by a full two year closure, and the cost saving is very considerable, and doesn't seem to be encouraging the repairs...a lot going on over at a new flat ride site...anyone seen any stunning hot skyride action recently?

Sorry, off topic again, I thought this was general discussion.
Dragging it back on topic, doomed, but not as doomed as sad terry.

Out of interest, when was it that Hex last operated?

I know for a fact that I rode it on 25th March 2023, so I know that it did operate at some point last season, but it feels like the ride has hardly operated at all since about 2021/2022…

It wasn’t just paint it was new 3D signs that will now age a year before the thing opens. That just defies logic if it was planned. Same with Hex.

Having the ride closed for two and a half years defies logic.
Likewise with Hex.
Not saying it was planned, I'm saying they are saving on costs, and not rushing with the fix saves further money in the short term.
If there had been a proper appraisal of the issues involved years ago, there may have been progress a few years down the line.
Sorry, I will shut up on a round circles argument again.
