Hotels General Discussion

I usually stay in the enchanted village on the very rare occasion I now visit (prob last stay was 4 years ago). The rooms are bigger for a start and I think the bed is king size whereas the hotels are a double. With kids the Lee is the separate sleeping area which is great. In the summer the outside seating area is great.

But the main reason I stay in EV is because of how noisy the hotel rooms are. Not sure why but AT and Splash really suffer from room noise particularly if you have kids running up and down the corridors. With EV you only have 1 lodge next to you, and usually it’s very quiet as a result.

Out of curiosity, have the hotels been made cheaper?

We’re going on 26th/27th July and staying on site, and that’s because the Alton Towers Hotel actually worked out cheaper than any Premier Inn within a roughly 10 mile radius. If I’m remembering the price correctly, Alton Towers was ~£230, while the Premier Inn in Uttoxeter was ~£450 and the one in Leek wasn’t much less. Granted, Premier Inn makes you have 2 rooms if you’re going as a group of 3 adults and Alton Towers will let you share, but even on a per room basis, the Premier Inns were roughly the same price as Alton, and that’s before you take into account that Alton Towers gives you free breakfast and Premier Inn doesn’t (I think my mum said it’s £12 per adult for Premier Inn breakfast now?).

I’m aware that it is the LIV Golf event at JCB that weekend (one of the motivations for us picking that weekend, actually, as I think my dad and possibly my mum as well might be making a beeline for LIV on the Sunday and leaving me in Alton by myself), which could be driving up the Premier Inn prices, but even putting that aside, I thought £230 seemed cheap for ATH on a weekend in the summer holidays.

Has something changed? Is demand low this season or something? I seem to remember the hotels being more expensive at one time.
Was that with or without MAP discount? Seems to be roughly the price I've paid for the hotels at Towers for many years now to be fair.

Think you've answered why the Premier Inns are so expensive that weekend, it will be the LIV Golf event.

Without. We haven’t had MAPs for a few years now.
