It's The Same Old Song

The king of the mashup, DJ Cummerbund, has just raised the bar. Forget your four chord song, this is game changing!

A mashup is not the same as a song which sounds the same. Blending "That's The Way (I Like It)" and "Jolene" is cool, fun and funky, but also off topic.

You have found a really cool mashup of songs which compliment each other well, and can be mixed together, but not songs which sound the same as each other.

Nil points.

Yeah I know. But where else was I gonna put it? ;)

Maybe I can get back in Goose's good books with this classic?
They both share a near identical bassline and chord structure.

The classic Air on a G String, by Johann Sebastian Bach, (as made famous in adverts for my father's former employer)....

And Whiter Shade of Pale, by Procol Harum, (featuring on the original studio recording, a session drummer who went on to teach yours truly my first few drum lessons in my teens)....

I have a very a very deep fondness for Air™. I know it's not the best ride out there. The theming is terrible, even now and the tunnel is bland. (NO. You get a life.) I will be very sad if it goes.

Now I can't be the only one that, when stood in that queue for the first time noticed whomever did the theming, was heavily influenced by Mr Mister. Especially when they borrowed the base.

The Thirteen sound track was produced by a company called pit stop productions. Pit stop productions was founded by a John Sanderson. Named after a musical he did about the local pit closing down in our area. He was my music teacher in Years 7 and 8 at high school.

One lesson was about how music can change all meaning if played at a slower or higher tempo. One example was Teddy bears picnic.

Slow it down. Creepy.

Think I saw teh birth of thirteens theme and why i hold it in such high regard.

Hang on..

These don’t even sound similar. I’m convinced these melodies are exactly the same. Take a look for yourselves!

Furthermore, some of the marketing straplines have been all but lifted from the song. Was Th13teen developed from this song? what? Is this common knowledge and I’ve only figured it out now?

Reading that no one in @The_bup's life ever sang Teddy Bear's Picnic with him, as a youngling, is possibly one of the most tragic things I've come across on TST.

This ^^
I had a Ribena branded piggy bank that played Teddy Bear's Picnic every time you dropped a coin in.

Around where I live, it was among the classic ice cream van songs during the summer when I was a child!

That and Pop Goes the Weasel… I’m not sure what relation these songs have to ice cream, but it’s the first thing that comes to mind when I hear either!
