John Wardley New Book

Got all of those Katy!
Some others as well, old Blackpool local history stuff, and a Southport one twice, because I'm getting old.
Will trawl through the geek shelf soon.

Anyone remember the old newspaper, I think it was the Pleasure Beach Express before the train ride.
Offers vouchers and discount tickets in a small newspaper free at the front entrance...fresh every season, and often changed mid season, either for the summer holidays or the loonymations start.

Oh, should have saved them all, be worth a fortune now.
Must have stopped around the time of gated entry.

Completely off topic sorry.
First Wardley book, not good, speaking as a big geek fact reader.
So no second book...I refuse to go to the temple and worship.
Just another bloke into magic and design.

So I've read the book now. On holiday in Greece.

Can fully see why some of you are a little distracted by the way it jumped about. But I think it's just written how he talks. He does have a tendency to jump about. Like he says, he is an entertainer.

To me, it felt like a goodbye from him. I get the feeling he saw nemesis reborn as a good way to finish. One last hurrah before he goes off into the sunset.

Nice to see this site get a mention.

I read it yesterday. I actually enjoyed it more than his first book. I like how he went into detail about the blocking on The Haunted House, and I didn't know that he worked on the rather awful ghost train which currently resides at Dreamland Margate.

I quickly read through the book a while ago, and - truthfully - I was a little disappointed that he didn't seem to mention two of the larger stories that had happened at Alton Towers since his previous book ended in 2014 - namely, the change of Air to Galactica, and - of course - the 2015 accident on The Smiler.

Granted, I don't think that he was actively working at the park at the time, though, and perhaps he didn't want to mention the accident for legal or sensitivity reasons.

Overall, I definitely preferred his first book, as I felt that there was much more to discuss. I think that he left several stories out of his first book, though, as there was a lot of information about Thorpe Park that I didn't know until I read transcripts of his interviews in the "Making Thorpe Park" book, and his positive remarks in the book towards the "Smiler" name and theme for SW7 seems to contradict what he subsequently said in later YouTube interviews (specifically, youtu.be/XCY4YrzvmOk?t=2734 at the 45:34 mark).
