Legoland Windsor

In Legoland's defence it is only £60 if you show up without discounts in the middle of the summer holidays. If you've ever visited Legoland then you'll know how insanely busy it gets! This price has clearly been put in place to deter people off.

An off peak day by comparison is just £30 if booked a week in advance.

I would imagine Legoland will see one of the highest %age of people paying full whack.
The theme appeals to international guests, who are likely to buy their tickets from their London hotels concierge desk.

and a hotel desk concierge wouldn't be selling at full gate price either, they would have at least some discount to incentive guests to buy there.

Is it me or does ll look extremely run down this year? The heartlake express just looks like a dirty faded moss covered relic and the whole park in general seems to have lost a little sparkle?? The picnic family at the beginning have long gone to be replaced with a coffee stand, there's now a few of them around the park, and the whole place just seems like they closed the gates in December and left it to the wild. The burger bites in hart lake is being redone in to a fish and chips place but I still think this could have been done BEFORE it opened as all that's needed is a rebrand

The English Family (actual name) are still there (although they might have disappeared opening weekend). They just moved them a few meters to fit in the coffee stand. There new home is a bit more central so they are actual getting more attention now. But I am glad you noticed they were missing.

No audio at the moment, but I know it's being worked on ;)

I love that they're getting a major new attraction this year and there is no mention of it in this thread! :p

Anyway, that is far from the point of this post. Merlin Entertainments everyone!!!

Removing theming from their water rides since the beginning of time! This is what it was like before for those who may not know:

A tipping bucket water 'effect'. No doubt there were H&S issues with the theming and it was cheaper to just remove it rather than fix the problem.

:)

The river rapids at Legoland remains one of the most poorly themed and ill thought out rides Merlin have ever produced.

Just complete disappointment with a ride system that should have been perfect.

Vikings' River Splash is being rethemed at some point to complement Ninjago World, so it may be that the ride is in limbo at the moment

Not sure how much involvement Merlin had with the ride, River Splash opened in 2007 and was the same year Merlin bought Tussauds, in fact the merger finished about half way through that year, I'm not sure what month river splash opened, I know it was heavily delayed so possibly was delayed enough for Merlin to cut stuff from the attraction but it could have been too late at that point.

Legoland was never part of the Tussauds group. Merlin took control of legoland in 2006.

Don't count on it. I'm not sure where you've heard this from but it's not on their 10 year plan (not that I expect them to keep to it).

To be fair, Lego haven't had a Vikings themed line of sets for over a decade now. Given that most young guests will have never seen a Lego viking, I'd say the whole area is long overdue a retheme. In fact, it was a pretty daft choice for a theme in the first place. They must have known the Vikings range wasn't going to stick around long.

Has River Splash been included in the Merlin rapids closure, in light of the Splash Canyon accident? Only Thorpe and Alton are being reported on the news.

I've seen a statement from Merlin saying that all their rapids rides, including at Legoland, are closed until more information becomes available.

:)

The legoland rapids has to be the worse looking rapids out there, I've seen traveling versions look better! Who ever thought it was a good idea to build a rapids on a hill was stupid! Would have been much better building it on some flat land, maybe near the bottom end of the park. It just looks so ugly from every angle, when you walk towards it, it just looks a concrete mess.

As for the Viking theming, they could remove that "theme" within a day as there is so little theming or even actual lego!

We won't start on the latest tin shed they have build next to the rapids, which is equally as well themed from most angles.

So today was the 2nd trip of the year to legoland.....after our first was extremely disappointing this one was fantastic. Managed to do all the rides, staff was on point park looked amazing and food was excellent.

The pirate show....hmmmm. Well since it's been changed we only saw it for the first time today and I can honestly say it's rubbish. It's seemed to have lost all the energy it had before. My 3 year old, who used to love the old show, said it was stupid and asked if we can do something else.....

Anyone see the new Ninjago area yet?

I haven't been to Legoland this year, and won't be. It's hard to make out what a ride is like when it's screen-based (a bit like watching a Spider Man POV etc.) - but the queue seems nice enough. Shame the building is just a box in the middle of the park.
