Legoland Windsor

£60 a ticket folks. Oh and add Haunted House Monster Party to that list. It’s closed all day today.

Haunted House Monster Party not opening tomorrow either:

We’re experiencing technical issues with the Haunted House Monster Party, which means that we won’t be in a position to open the ride tomorrow (Monday 15 April). We apologise for any disappointment & hope you will enjoy the many other rides, shows & attractions across the Resort.

To be fair aren’t Raft Racers, Splash Safari & Drench Towers always seasonal attractions and they wouldn’t be open right now anyway as it depends on better weather.

At least they are giving warnings about closed rides and it’s unfortunate about Haunted House.
Seems to be an issue with Merlin and new attractions opening, they work the first day and then fail.

Hex seems to have been down all weekend too. Did someone drive up the M6 to nab a part to try and fix it?

Out of interest, is Haunted House Monster Party a Vekoma Madhouse like Hex is? Or is it a Mack Revolving House?

Hope it's open for Thursday / Friday for our visit. My little lad is very excited for it. He has the Haunted House set it is loosely based off too. We live a long way away in Manchester so not.like we can just pop back week or two later either.

One of those things with new rides I suppose.

I’m sure the raft racers used to be open all season and weren’t seasonal in the past were they?

As for the train, the reasoning is a little vague!

It is strange that a large proportion of new Merlin rides appear to have significant technical problems on opening despite using tried and tested ride systems.

Teething problems are to be expected, but extended periods of downtime??

Honestly, I could complain about all the ride closures today and monster party not opening but reality is I still had a great day. Managed to do 23 rides, including 3 on ninjago. The train looks nowhere near ready with the track still blocked off and no changes to the station with the name change. In person, the front of monster looks phenomenal unlike the queue and part of the warehouse, although it's certainly better than photos may suggest. As a warning, it is closed again tomorrow

I thought it looked far, far worse than Id seen in any photo. The big black box is not just 'visible' when it probably shouldnt be, but the whole development is horrendously ugly.

It's shoved into what was already the most congested area in the park, the queue is an abomination and the themed front (which you barely see face-on due to the position of the building) is cheap and bland anyway.

It has obliterated the area and seems totally out of place. It even sticks right out from the view to Windsor castle from The Beginning. It's a joke and shows how little they care. There are many better places in the park it could have gone.

It also feels like you don't go anywhere during the attraction. You see 3 sides of a box while queueing, you go in one side, walk in a straight line and then come out the other side. Kids won't notice this as much, but like I mentioned a few posts up, this level of laziness just takes away so much of the fun and mystery of a dark ride.

The madhouse is a great idea and much better than drop towers would have been, but otherwise the attraction has no real surprises for kids. There's nothing spooky about it, the party theme is its only redeeming factor because it doesn't take itself too seriously and just gives kids some funky music and disco lights. I like that about it and clearly the kids do, but the feeling before and after the madhouse is just flat and dull.

Should have been somewhere else in the park, done much better and with some love and imagination put into it. We will never see anything like the Dragon at the park again, just big boxes with TVs and a one-trick ride in.

You can't treat the dragon as a complete work of art. The backside of the warehouse is completely visible on ride, while there is literally no theming outside the building. I enjoy dragon and also ninjago but I can admit both aren't perfect thematic rides.

I have read countless reviews today of people only managing 4-6 rides all day. How on earth did you manage 23,. including 3 on a ride that had pretty long queues all day?

Mmmm I wonder? Are they going to refund money or offer another date for parents booking a night at the hotel for the kids just to experience the opening of the haunted house if booked for the 14th or 15th April? Didn't alton towers do this when smiler didn't open on time. To be honest you could excuse towers with smiler as was a complete new ride system and all the freak weather conditions and curve balls thrown during construction. But this is just a disgrace it is a simple construction and a tried and tested ride system that has worked at towers for years. I feel merlin will need to compensate their valued legoland customers or they will be in trouble big time!

You are correct about Raft Racers, and the other closed water rides.

The train is closed because track had to be removed to allow construction site access. It appears that a permanent access road is being built over that section of track but until the house was complete work couldn't have restarted on the road and rails. I'm not sure why the sign doesn't say "due to construction of our new ride". I guess they thought it was obvious to anyone who visits the park.

This raises questions about Windsor and Maidenhead Borough Council’s processes: they’ll reject Legoland planning applications on environmental (namely traffic impact) grounds, but approve others despite other obvious environmental concerns (i.e. blighting the landscape, which - for a park sited on a hill - it does).
