Legoland Windsor

You'd think judging by the map that Merlin owned Windsor Castle. Maybe they'll buy that next... put a Dungeon in, a Merlin Tower, etc etc :)

Trouble is its current owner may be reluctant to sell, seeing as they (and several hundred staff) still live there ;)

Funnily enough I was having the same conversation just the other day. I think the reason it's on the map is for the sake of the Hotel, it's a pretty good reason to turn a day into an extended trip so they are cashing in on it. I can't really blame them but yes I agree it unnecessarily takes up a fair bit of room on the map which has had to get quite a bit bigger just to fit it on.

Its going to be a relatively quiet year for Legoland this year hopefully something exciting will come next year if the 3 year cycle is anything to go by!
I don't know that a massive, largest-in-UK water play structure, new surrounding area, new younger water-play area, new Duplo themed dry play area, full revamp of a very popular original ride, new internally produced 4D show and expansion to the very popular Star Wars Miniland Experience really counts as a 'relatively quiet year' ;).

Well it's not a new rollercoaster or log flume therefore it must be a quiet year.

In comparison to something like Land of The Vikings or Atlantis Submarine Voyage I personally would say it is a far smaller investment, considering they spent a large ammount on thier hotel last year and submarine voyage the year before, it is a far smaller investment in my opinion. Effectively they are using the film produced for most of the Legoland parks, they are adding a water play area and some other models to the Star Wars miniland, its nothing major like Atlantis... but again it is only mt opinion ;)

Just going back to the map posted above the one used in the park is not quite the same. It's zoomed in a lot more, cutting out the edges which means Windsor Castle doesn't actually appear.

I have an update from Legoland Windsor's Duplo Valley construction! If you like diggers and mud, this is an update for you!

Just thought I'd mention the Drench Tower at the centre of Duplo Valley has gone vertical, and seems to be going up quite rapidly.

No pictures I'm afraid.

So what exactly is this thing? I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess that it involves soaking you to the bone for no justifiable reason? It must do... it's at Legobland. ;)

Correct (the clue is in the name) ;)

Although in fairness this is meant to be Legoland Windsor's own waterpark (like the ones in California and Florida). However rather than make it a separate attraction they've built it inside the park as someone obviously realised you'd have to be mad or too young to care to visit an outdoor waterpark in the UK.

More details here or just go back the previous page ;)

Incident at Legoland:

Official LEGOLAND Windsor We can confirm that the LEGOLAND Windsor Hotel was evacuated at 4pm yesterday - April 13 - when a potential problem was spotted in part of the swimming pool roof. All guests was escorted safely from the area and the hotel, but it appears that a small part of the pool roof structure has collapsed. The emergency services were alerted as a matter of procedure but Park engineers were quickly on site and the situation under control.

The hotel is operating normally although the swimming pool area remains closed.

You should use an internal skeleton of technic beams connected with friction pins.

Just found a couple of small news articles about part of the hotel roof falling in...

Sounds bad for a new hotel! If this is to do with the way it was built then it'll just be isolated to this hotel, but if it's something to do with the design of it then is there a chance something might happen to one of the other hotels that have recently opened across the many Legoland parks? I thought they were all more or less carbon copies?

Just thought i'd let everyone know that i will be at Legoland this weekend. So i will let you all know what i think about the new Duplo Valley area :)
