I really need to get to this park before something bad happens. I last went about 20 years ago and didnt ride the ultimate
Something bad happened the other week....
It really is worth the effort.
Remember it is a small scale family style park, lots of green, not many rides.
Never had a bad day there.
T'ultimate is the reason for going.
Just remember to cross your legs, stick your head out to the side and scream going off the second lift hill.

I meant more in the way of it closing down

So do we know why the Skate Karts closed? Did somebody run over their hand?

Visited today for the first time and as echoed by others recently it was very very quiet. Seemed more staff than guests at times.Sundays are always quieter than Saturdays...universal rule at all British parks I'd say.
The Ultimate. Never ridden anything like it. Ticked off the list now, probably never to be ridden again.

So I finally managed to visit Lightwater last week, a park that has been on my UK bucket list for some time.
The Ultimate is definitely the main draw here, it’s honestly one of the strangest yet unique coasters I have been on. It’s location and strange layout make for a different ride. It definitely really gets going in the second half.
Raptor was a surprisingly decent coaster and the theming snd surroundings make it to be something amazing.
The other rides aren’t anything to write home about, a decent after burner, water slides, ladybird coaster, breakdance, pirate ship and other bits around too.
Aside from a few school trips, the park was dead. We were literally amongst the only people in the main area of the park in the last hour. The Raptor team even pleaded us to go again it was that quiet.
Unlike Flamingo Land (which was fairly busy and has some future to it), Lightwater Valley is definitely a bleak looking park. You can tell quite a few rides have been removed (and not replaced) and that it’s a struggling park. They used to have a birds of prey and shopping area until a few years ago.
With the recent accident on the Wild Mouse (was closed when we went), I do worry this place is on borrowed time and could be another U.K. park casualty in the very near future.

Sounds like every day at the moment is just as quiet as the day I visited. I haven't been since 2010 but for those who have been in recent years, is this normal? It certainly cannot be sustainable and you have to assume there is a pretty good chance of them getting a fine from the HSE following on from the incident a few weeks ago.

I went for their Halloween event last year, baring in mind it happens during Half Term and ride close was 5 (of the top of my head) and even then, it wasn't overly busy at all. The fireworks were not too bad but obviously a small scale display compared to the likes of Alton Towers. I'm pretty sure The Ultimate shut around dusk too which was earlier than ride close.
Ha, The Ultimate was one hell of a unique experience... never again.

Thanks, that's pretty disappointing. The Ultimate would be the sole reason for me goingI went for their Halloween event last year, baring in mind it happens during Half Term and ride close was 5 (of the top of my head) and even then, it wasn't overly busy at all. Just confirmed to go on a group trip to LWV in July. Went with this group last year and can't wait to go back. Ultimate, Raptor Attack and Eagle's Claw are my main reasons for going.
