Lightwater Valley

I’m all for optimism, but I think hyper and giga coasters are an unrealistic expectation.

Given that we got a hyper that was on the shorter side at Thorpe Park, one of the country’s biggest parks, I somehow doubt that Lightwater of all places could afford one.

Based on Mellors’ track record at Fantasy Island, I’d expect mostly travelling rides to grace Lightwater Valley. I think the best we can probably realistically hope for is for one of their travelling coasters to go there.

To be fair if even something like the ice mountain that is currently at winter wonderland came it would be a step up from what is there currently.

It never needed something like the ultimate in reality, because the overspend on that at the time meant that they had to sell second tier rides like the soopa loopa which would have been the mainstay of many similarly sized parks.

The problem with the park over the last few years is that if anything there has been negative investment let alone under investment so there has been little to no reason to go back, so anything new represents progress, and they have enough to be able to spice the place up and that should see an increase in revenue.

...Id love them to get the Ultimate from Oakwood...
You would have to try very hard indeed!

And I thought that the soopa loopa was the worst of the looping coasters of the time...hours queue for two quick loops and off you get.
The only benefit was getting a "double run" off peak, straight through the station slowly, bit like the runaway train.

I've always loved the fact the ultimate was an anagram of mutilate which is what it did to you on ride.

The soopa loopa loops were intense then the rest of the ride were slow and underwhelming almost like the reverse of the ultimate in every way.

There would be no chance of Megafobia (the Welsh ultimate) coming up to LWV. The cost of taking it apart would probably be more than buying a new one alone!

That looping one that they own would probably be perfect, at the very least as a stop gap.

The park will eventually need fixed attractions. Travelling rides will be welcome short term but they will need to build the fixed ride offering over time. It will be hard given the asset stripping the park has had.
Tbf this mightn't be a bad thing. Most of the rides at the park have been travelling ones because of the power constraints, and to start from scratch at least provides a blank canvas.
