London Entertainment Resort: All Discussion

You mean they've got the airgates manufacturer on board? Well with complexity like that overcome I'm sure the investment $ will be rolling in uncontrollably.

Which one is the airgates manufacturer? I guess airgates are an important, albeit often overlooked, element of ride design, if nothing else...

As for Garmendale, though; it would appear they're trying to raise their profile a little, as some of the products listed on their website look surprisingly elaborate! They've got a very wide range of dark rides on offer, for instance; omnimovers, trackless dark rides, simulators... the list goes on, and they could easily make a park's entire dark ride selection based on what's on their website! Take a look: https://www.garmendale.co.uk/
Has Garmendale ever actually built anything larger than a driving school?
They built Gangsta Granny, and are rumoured to be building Jumanji: The Adventure at Gardaland, which should be pretty substantial by the looks of things!

Interestingly, both The Sun and the Daily Star are now reporting that London Resort construction is due to begin “within months”: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/britains-35bn-disneyland-theme-park-2516315

I thought that the GDO application wasn’t due to be finalised until June 2022?
Matt, please stop believing things printed in the red topped newspapers, they tend to tell more lies than truth.
Within months, about as true as it going to be three times bigger than any UK park, when Alton is nearly twice the size, and is actually real.

Within months there will be another delay.

Then another delay.

Then another delay.

And the CEO will STILL have the audacity to sit on a yacht in Monaco with a glass of Moet (or other activity carried out by out-of-touch businessmen) sniggering before addressing the thirsty press to call us all naysayers and confirming construction is set to go ahead that week.

...and then, when it all fails to happen, the "developers" will blame the environmental lobbyists and local councils for putting the spanner in the works.

The Daily Star and the Sun are about as credible as this whole project anyway. Did they ask their page 3 girls opinion as well? "Katie, 22, from Essex said that she can't wait for the UK Version of Disneyland". Did the Dear Deirdre page run an article on it - "I slept with my boyfriend's grandad in the back of his Ford Cortina in Asda car park because he said the UK version of Disneyland was going to be built within months, now I feel guilty because he was probably right"?

I must admit, I do enjoy the humour of this whole saga. I stay subscribed to this thread for its entertainment value alone.

According to RideRater, the government Examining Authority (ExA) has asked for “regular updates” on the project, amongst other pieces of news: https://riderater.co.uk/9251/london-resort-asked-for-regular-updates/

To summarise the news we’ve had:
  • The ExA has asked for the team to submit progress updates every four weeks to minimise the impact of further delays.
  • This move was stimulated by concerns expressed by local councils about the limited progress made, and a lack of “substantiative discussions”with the developers (https://riderater.co.uk/9247/london-resort-councils-concerned-by-progress/)
  • Planners will also be spelling out the implications of the SSSI designation by 24th November.
  • Assessment of the proposals by the ExA is now unlikely to begin before summer 2022.
