Meteorite hits Russia

I have seen some reports online saying that a meteorite has exploded in the air over Russia somewhere near the Ural mountians.

Here are some videos of it. All I can say is thats one hell of a bang! Also got some great video of it streaking across the sky.

Lets hope that there is nothing bigger out that they have missed.

Wow! An amazing thing to witness but blimey that was a LOUD bang!

Dear God, you would have sh*t yourself if you'd been anywhere near that when it landed.

Well unless it smashes the carp out of some satellites it should pass by fine.

Still it does show that we could get wiped out by any asteroid and we might not even see it coming.

This one tonight has been known about for a while.

My advice is if you have clear skies, get out and watch it :) - I believe it will be naked eye visible.

Had planned to try and get to an observatory tonight, or group astronomy event. However, I appear to have planned something else for the following day with some reprobates!

Apparently it won't be, only with a pair of binoculars or a telescope.

Rather than separate topic, here is a link for NASA following the asteroid this evening:

There are probably more links around, best I have thus far, seems to presently be showing it from different observatories over the world.
