Nemesis Reborn: General Discussion

Thoughts on the past couple of days…

The good:
The eye looks great, and the teeth looks fantastic
The station is also a great improvement, no dedicated front row though is a shame
There’s been no detrimental damage to throughput operations (silly safety gates etc)
The new shop and merch is a fantastic addition, it feels a missed opportunity to not have a “rotating” shop in TST in place of the sweet section (TST really does seem weak comparative to Curse and NR)
The smoke effect is great
Mushroom cloud tours bus is better than it ever was
It rides very similar to previous!
The nighttime lighting was superb, although the installation looked temporary so I’ll be intrigued to see if this lasts
Easter eggs are everywhere, the attention to detail by MMM is great
The timed cannon, bus, eye effects
The soundtrack release has been a pleasant surprise
The ongoing ACU (Alton cinematic universe) storylines are great to see. Hope there’s some 1-5-10 year plans, it’s completely unique and feels very Alton
The marketing has generally been excellent
Roaming actors continue
Great to see BS observing today and in the thick of it
The biolab is a good addition
The general signage throughout the queue line looks great
The maintenance shed theming is a welcome addition
The observation areas

The indifferent:
The good parts of the queue mean the dead spots feel particularly dead. Some more items needed
The “cannon” doesn’t look like it will last a couple of seasons before looking very tired, and it’s shame it has no motion/light
The soundtrack is serviceable, not as memorable or iconic as previously
It definitely sounds/feels “rattely” compared to previously
It’s a shame the cheesy signs & PA announcements are gone
Not queuing by the loop is a miss
No saliva rivers yet
The helix fencing still looks out of place
Two helicopters still seems an odd
The speakers and photo panels needed hiding/theming better

The bad:
A lot more work needs doing around the queue line, it’s a mess. Planting needs to happen to shield the car park from then queue.
The area around the top of the loop just need tidying up
The first observation telescope is already broken
A water pipe is haemorrhaging water near the stall turn, looks a complete state
The random heras fencing near the stall turn with “ride testing area” label still on looks awful
The wheelbarrow and piles of rubbish
Considering the effort everywhere else the queue line construction looks rushed throughout (not the theming etc), like nobody has walked the queue and just tidied up what people see stood their for two hours
Lack of a queue line shop
“Queue gate” Saturday night, and the responses from the social media team could of ruined the weekend

Other oddities:
There is a broom head next to the queue line near the first drop
The piles of logs
The panels for the on ride photo kit don’t look externally rated panels and might fill with water in no time
There is unarmored cabling everywhere
Unsealed ducts that will fill with water
Ducts not even buried
The state of the cable tray on the lift is appalling
The general quality of the electrical installation and audio installation is just plain bad
Its a shame there’s no “constant” pre-show building, walking through the lab could of been interesting

Needs more detail Ash, but good one.

There are two changes that slightly reduce throughput from what I can see: the train now has to be fully out of the station before the one behind can enter (previously it only had to be about half way out). Also, the floor no longer comes up before the train comes to a complete stop, which delays opening the restraints slightly.

Currently a bigger issue is that some of the restraint sensors seem a little fiddly and time-consuming rechecks are common, one train seems worse than the other for some reason. Even so, the ride is still probably the highest capacity coaster in the park and providing they get RAP numbers in check the queue moves faster than most in the park

What's been finished so far looks very good. What's been abandoned overnight looks...unprofessional to say the least. Mounds of dirt around where the crane was, wheelbarrows and temporary metal fencing in very clear view (one of the temporary metal fences does have a piece of paper with the site manager's phone number stuck to it... I do wonder if he's received one or two prank calls from cheekier punters). The coaster rides better than it has in years, it's as whippy, intense and enjoyable as the original.

Great audio, permanent night lighting and theming, but..

The big canon/turret in the queue line could do with more texture rather than be entirely plain black.. it might not be finished, but at the moment it's too plain to help provide any escapism.

Staff communication last night was not the best. The ride experienced technical delay, which is always to be expected on opening day. A train was evacuated on the lift hill. However, we did not appreciate being forcibly evacuated from the queue line only to discover that those who defied that evacuation managed to get their night ride a good ten or so minutes later. It seems that the ride team were not supposed to carry out an evac of the queue line in the first place, here's hoping that a few wrists were slapped by management for this.

All in all.. it'll look better when the creative team have been given the opportunity to finish the job. It rides well, the atmosphere was electric... but staff communication during that queue line evac was poor, and to be perfectly honest, pretty rude also.

They’ve done a great job in having a hugely successful opening weekend (not withstanding the mess up with the Saturday dark rides), but there’s clearly more work they can do to further improve presentation, operations and the actual ride itself. With the way attitudes within the park have changed in the last year or so, I have every confidence they’ll continue to address some of these smaller issues and won’t merely be sitting round patting themselves on the back - although they all deserve one for what they’ve done so far!

I understand that this may have been frustrating in this situation but I felt definitely yesterday it was a lot of people’s first days in a new job. I can imagine that might have led to the false evac - or unclear procedure with the new ride.

We had three people serving us a drink in the welcome inn- also told us they were new and were very pleasant.

Was actually surprised there wasn’t more issues with the ride! I remember Wickerman’s official opening day and in the afternoon it would operate for like 30 mins, breakdown and then work again for a while and then break down.
