Nemesis Reborn: General Discussion

There were lights pointing towards the FastTrack waterfall last year so it looks as if it was planned to be on, they added a small concrete wall blocking the water from pouring onto the support when the re-track happened too. The helix waterfall lasted till May if i remember rightly and the first drop one i have no clue but it was pretty weak anyways it wasn't flowing properly. Would help if they cleaned the gravel out first...

I have noticed that the images of Nemesis (with riders on board) on Google Maps state that they were taken from May 2023 (see link below) - but this surely can't be correct, as the ride was not operational during the 2023 season?

The images are also marked as "Nemesis Reborn Pie" (also in link below); I don't understand the "pie" reference, but it must be a rollercoaster joke of some description, as I remember Digital Dan stating that rides at Chessington have been renamed to "pie" on Google Maps as well ?

These are user / community submissions.

The date you see in the top left isn't the creation date of the photo, it's the upload date.

Equally, the name of the photo is chosen and submitted by the user.

I saw the pie thing come up on Nemesis and SubTerra, apparently 35 is an age of bitterness because I keep sending submissions to change them back , I really don't understand it though, just like the The Smiler had been labeled The Smile Sigma which again I have no bloody idea what It is meant to mean.:tearsofjoy:

I really hate that I know this...

Some updates from this weekend.
Helix waterfall is back, again! rockwork is still damaged and it runs into a pool of gravel but nice to have back nonetheless. Hopefully will last more than 2 months this time.

First drop & Lift waterfalls had trickles coming from them and are very overgrown so clearly no intentions of trying to revive them anytime soon.

The dreaded playground fences have spread further and been installed against the rocks in the fasttrack / old main queue, would've been nice if they matched the style of the older fences.

Curiously I noticed Paultons are using those same fences around their new coaster. I know a lot of the building regs have been updated, I can’t be bothered to look but wonder if that fence style is now required for new coasters perimeter fencing.

I did think this but if it were the case wouldn’t the pit fences be changed too?, the helix fences were stored behind the construction fence during the refurb and only thrown out until the end which makes me think they were too knackered to keep.

There were 4 originally and they still all worked 10 ish years ago
I’d be curious to know if anything’s actually changed which makes them run less frequently than before.

It would probably be cost of insurance and the park's internal H&S sign off more than building regulations. In the UK building regs tend to be criteria based for construction materials, rather than prescriptive, ie not specificying exact designs of things (fencing).

The old helix fencing was more bespoke and was presumably removed to allow the retracking, so would have been more fuss to insure / sign off anew, but the new fencing is a standardised design used in all sorts of places, so easier to insure / sign off. Any original fencing that stayed in place during the retracking I suppose would be easier to insure, since they had stayed in place with no issues for years. If they'd added more new fencing this year, maybe the original just needed replacing and it was again easier to go with the new style.

Jesus wept the inane stupidity continues.

I’d be intrigued to see the risk assessment comparison between a sheer rock face and an anti climb fence which gives people something to use

Embarrassing

A big shout as to why the rapids will be out as the H&S brigade won’t let people on a moving platform get into a boat next to water.

The utter un-themed ugliness of their installations now knows no bounds.

I’m glad the consultants justified their pay cheques some more. Never mind the raft of rides around the park which don’t have this.

The rattling seemingly isn’t very consistent. Either that, or tolerances vastly differ.

There are people from the weekend saying that it felt better, whereas there are others moaning like hell about it and saying that old Arrow coasters ride better than Nemesis currently rides.

Off the top of my head, I’ve had 11 rides on the retracked version now, and I would never have said that I found the rattle noteworthy on any of them. It’s always felt like Icon for me in that the rattle is more of a noise and a benign sensation than actual ride-affecting roughness.

I’ll have to report back after I ride on Friday and Saturday, but I’ve thus far found the rattle talk overcooked myself!

I recently had to listen to a vlogger mansplain to a technician at Paultons Park about how Flight of the Pterosaur was starting to develop a bit of a rattle and that they might need to get it looked at... I'm not sure I put any stock in rattlegate anecdotes anymore.
Each to their own, of course, and I’ll admit that I myself do not have the world’s highest roughness tolerance… but I think there’s a point at which some minute rattling is just a side effect of being on a machine moving at speed.

If a train is dropping at many miles per hour and exerting g-force, you’re rarely going to have an experience completely free of any minute vibration. I rode Pterosaur many times last June, and I remember it being as smooth as a baby’s bottom; any rattling was certainly benign enough that I didn’t register it!

In my book, rattling isn’t a problem as long as it’s not becoming the predominant sensation you can feel on the ride and it’s not hurting you or causing you headaches. Hyperia, for example, probably has a more noticeable rattle than either Nemesis Reborn or Pterosaur and it’s never overly bothered me, as it hasn’t felt like a strong enough sensation to hurt or override the thrilling sensations of the actual layout. I’ve never felt that way about Nemesis Reborn, and I’ve certainly never felt that way about Flight of the Pterosaur!

I was in a debate with someone who shall remain nameless about the Nemesis Reborn Rattle, which I said in my opinion is more of an annoying vibration and stated id take NR Rattle over the potential for spine adjustment on the Big One, The fact I mentioned the Big One was anything but smooth started war. But I stand by it, Id gladly re ride NR over a ride that actually gave me back pain lol, So I don't actually think its that bad, it just seems to be a bandwagon of hate that everyone jumps on.
