Nemesis: Sub-Terra

Just had a thought, would the park open the ride during an event? Like Sub Terra opening when Mardi Gras starts would be weird.

Thorpe Park's Carnival event inexplicably includes the Trailers scare maze as part of the actual event so wouldn't exactly rule this out. 🤣

Ordinarily I’d say it can take quite a while to give staff sufficient training to carry out their roles with pride and professionalism but as neither of those things are Merlin requirements, yeah, you’d imagine it’s imminent.

It’s got nothing to do with pride and professionalism, hosts and operators have to do so many hours of training before they are let loose on guests so that’s the limiting factor.

We also don’t know how long the staff have been training for either. Today could have been their first day, or they could be nearing the end

I was only messing, it was a joke based on Merlin’s lack of thoroughness in staff training.

If I had to give Towers credit for one thing, it would be thoroughly training rides staff.
As @Dave said, so many hours training have to be completed, and that is both theory and practical, plus multiple competency tests before they are trusted with the public without direct supervision.

Compliance with H&S regulations is not some kind of gift the park should be celebrated for...

I don’t necessarily think there are legislative standards to follow though. I’ve been to non-Merlin parks in this country and felt unsafe at points. Some parks do the bare minimum, I would say merlin go further

I would agree that even small rides within merlin require through training from medicals to the points mentioned above, some parks will be like this is start this is stop and leave them to it.

Gotta be very soon, somewhen in May for sure. Last week of April? Similar to the curse marketing for opening end of May?
The Nemesis viewing platform exits at the start of Sub-Terra's queue, the platform opens on Wednesday, could well be that Sub-Terra will open that day too. Unless something significant is happening in the Nemesis construction site that day, why else would it not have been open already if not to tie in with Sub-Terra?

As I said it was a joke based on the fact that the staff often aren’t trained well from a customer service perspective (and that isn’t a slight on the staff themselves as usually the willing and intent is clearly there but the knowledge isn’t).

I’ve no doubt that the ride staff are trained well in terms of safety.

I think given some of the posts earlier in this thread it’s reasonable to make the claim that they’re not trained as well as they could be in terms of acting the role of ‘Phalanx operative’ though, to be fair.
