I feel the worst part of this is that if you are a family member on an online membership (as I am) as opposed to the person who purchased the membership, you are not eligible. Doesn't seem overly fair!
I was hoping that there might have been a tease of a new Mario 3D game, which is surely in the works, but I imagine that will possibly come later in the year.
Mario Kart looks fantastic! Not sure if I'll get one at launch (or even be able to seeing as they are expecting more demand than supply) but I'll be getting one at some point this year.

With major releases for the Nintendo Switch still due to come out this winter, I think it’s fairly apparent that Nintendo wants to slowly bring in the Switch 2 and phase out the original gradually.
I’m not paying more money to play the same games on a new console just for slightly updated graphics and performance, whereas DLC would have made that charge more palatable. I think I’ll stick with my Switch for now until they release a cheaper alternative for the market.

The Kirby & Mario Party game upgrades seem to be DLC essentially. The Zelda ones seem crap additions mind. But a lot of that comes down to the pricing.
I haven't purchased a new console game in so long I've no idea what a decent price is. Definitely pushing a drive to digital, which has always been a bit of a push against trade-ins console wise.
The pre-order requirements are dumb, but only if you want to do so through Nintendo's official website. Other places have had them up already.

Personally, I'm all for the early pre-order access requirements. They still open at a later date for others, and the requirements get lessened over the week or so for the NSO lot. Unsure how successful it will be in combatting scalpers, but hopefully it will help in avoiding a PS5 release situation, where you couldn't get anything for a good year+ as scalpers had picked them up and sold them for double the price.
Even 2nd hand stores were buying in PS5s for more than their buying price, just incentivising it further. (yes, I did work in one at the time, and yes people would buy just to sell. No, I do not agree with the pricing or scalping from anyone)
You can request a pre order from Amazon now though, and getting through alternate suppliers that others may not think of first (Very, Smyths etc) often yield good results.

It's worth noting that not everywhere has these pre order requirements. Not sure how it works to be fair.
My friend managed to get one on pre order from Smyths Toys and didn't need to prove any of the above. Ordering from Amazon however, he did.
PS5, Nvidia graphics cards and all sorts of gaming hardware in between has been plagued by scalpers and hugely inflated MSRP in recent times, so I can see why they are doing it. Making sure actual gamers have access to the hardware at first.

I really don’t mind the price increases - I’ve heard people get really annoyed at it, but to be honest for the enjoyment you’re getting I’d say it’s a fair enough price - although this is coming from a incredibly well off and of.. less financial responsibility.
It’s the subscription services that annoy me. They add up.
Also - Donkey Kong is meant to only be 10GB! Mad!
