Oakwood Discussion

No matter how fantastical RLP’s plans might have been, it does seem odd for Aspro to reject any notion of someone taking the park off their hands.

What good is it doing to anyone, including Aspro themselves, staying in Aspro’s ownership crumbling away? Aspro are still having to pay for site security, power and basic site maintenance even when not operating the park and bringing in no money from it, so surely it makes more sense for them to offload to a bidder who wants it and can stump up the cash?

Currently, the park is arguably still in a usable condition to an extent that someone could make something of it if they wanted to buy it. That won’t be the case forever, and I imagine the land will only grow harder to sell the more derelict Oakwood grows.

It’s also not like the park is in a particularly desirable location for housing or industrial development, so I’d imagine the number of potential buyers wanting to put the land to alternative use is quite low. If I were Aspro, I’d be biting the hand off of anyone who offered to take Oakwood off my hands!
Maybe Disney are in talks with them and the Welsh government to create Disneyland Wales, a competitor for Universal GB 🤣

Realistically how long can they leave Megafobia untouched?
Such a shame to see that just sat there and unused, gathering dust. The best wooden coaster in the UK, ahead of Wickerman. Used to amuse me how it only seemed to have one person operating it (at least when we were there last) just at the push of an innocuous button on the station.

When Megafobia was running on single-op mode, there were two buttons on the main operator control panel that had to be pressed and held down simultaneously until the train had fully left the station. This was only done on very quiet days, which admittedly towards the end was most days.

When busier you’d have an attendant on the offload platform who would have a dispatch button their side, which they would hold at the same time as the operator, but when the attendant was there, the operator only needed to hold down one button on their control panel.

When the ride was running two trains, which wasn’t the case at all in the last few years, you needed minimum of three staff to run the ride- an attendant either side checking the bars and the operator had to remain by the controls.
