Obscure UK Parks

There’s a few potentially salvageable rides left. Off hand, I think in terms of larger rides the drop tower and the frisbee can be saved (the latter was supposed to close earlier in the year but got a reprieve)

Little stuff like the Rockin’ Tug and the carousel can definitely be sold on. It’s things like Hornet and the log flume that are probably going to be scrapped.

Cornwall has also lost Dairyland this week as well. Really bad for Cornish tourism.

Having just watched a vlog of the park, I believe that the mini drop tower themed to a rocket was also from American Adventure, although it looked pretty SBNO in the vlog I watched, as were many other rides.
Yeah, that one has been dead for years.

Sad news. Flambards has announced that it is closing with immediate effect.

Such a shame, have some great memories of family trips there

I really hope the WW2 and Victorian England exhibitions are picked up by someone. They make a great year round attraction and should be preserved for future generations.

Ah this is is a shame. I really enjoyed my childhood trip to Flambards. Here's hoping the rides live on at other parks. Hopefully Thorpe are watching these developments and install some of the park's family rides where Amity Beach is.

Most of the family rides they have are too small for any moderately sized park. I don’t think Thorpe would be interested in any of it (even the Rockin’ Tug would be out of place).

Crealy could buy a couple of bits. I think the drop tower would work pretty well there as a family thrill attraction.

I'm thinking that the attractions will end up going to smaller parks like Lightwater Valley, Oakwood, Southport Pleasureland and potentially Pleasurewood Hills if not overseas. The rest will end up at small seaside parks such as Funland Hayling Island.

I think Lightwater Valley could pick up the Log Flume and Rocking Tug.

With the Ferdi's Funland kids rides, most of the rides are 30+ years old and are likely approaching the end of their service life so I'd say a lot of those could end up scrapped.

Skyforce and Skyraker will be the rides to watch for on where they end up as they may be cheaper additions for medium sized parks.

The log flume has been on its last legs for ages. If it isn’t scrapped it would be a very big surprise.

Skyforce I’m also not sure about. Flambards didn’t exactly operate it all that well throughout its life - it was sited in a very weird manner that couldn’t have done it all that much good. That combined with the fact Huss discontinued the tyre driven frisbee years ago make me think it’ll probably also go. If a park really wanted a cheap pendulum ride, they’d surely get on to SBF Visa rather than wheeling in a decades old 3rd hand Huss.

The Hornet was my first 'big' rollercoaster which my parents forced me to ride on our family trips to Cornwall when I was a kid even though I was terrified.

Last year I rode the only other copy of that coaster model which is at Park Asterix. It was alright and wasn't as terrifying as I remembered although the last two MCBRs were ridiculous and basically stopped the train so it crawled through the rest of the layout. Looking at POVs it doesn't seem that The Hornet did that.

Yeah the only sharp braking on the Hornet was at the very end of the ride.

More Flambards news.

Every remaining ride at the park is now up for sale (yes, including Hornet and the log flume) with Martin Meyer on https://www.usedamusement-rides.com/used-rides-for-sale/

I’m going to be very surprised if Hornet or the log flume get saved but if someone wants to take them on fair play!
Light Water Valley will be all over this , they love clapped out rides at rock bottom prices
