I expect if they do it would be weekends or Friday & Saturday only.
Especially if restrictions change and they can increase capacity so guests can get in more attractions in the same timeframe.

Don't really think it needs to open that long. The queues are too short

I would be surprised if they remained open past 7pm next Sunday given there's a good chance that England could be playing in a major tournament final at 8. The place would be a ghost town.

Saturday might be a different matter.

Now now. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. However that does relate to tonight because England are on at 8 so the likelihood of many being on park past 7 is low

That would be a brilliant situation for those of us who aren’t at all interested in football (admittedly a huge minority)! There’s honestly little that sounds better than walk-on rides on an evening!

It simply wouldn’t be viable for the park to run with next to nobody in the park, though; also, surely the staff will want to watch the game?

Totally off topic but that’s a crazy assertion, I think the majority of people in the country don’t find that 90 minutes of men kicking a ball around warrants the loutishness, anti-social behaviour, nationalism and name calling that comes with far too many football fans recently. In fact I’d go so far to say there’s an air of resentment towards the game right now given the packed out bars of men screaming their lungs out, but god forbid people hug at a funeral for example.

I’m more than happy for Towers to remain football free

I would imagine Towers will look very closely at attendance today & the queue times / when it was obvious guests were starting to leave when making a close tome decision for a week tomorrow, should England make it to the final.

To back that up further; I’m male, and I’ll admit I have no interest in football!

I’d also say that I’m in a vast, vast minority who isn’t following the Euros. Although I wouldn’t say I’m a particularly competitive person, so I’m not sure I have the right mindset for competitive sport. I always feel empathetic for the other side’s loss if we win, and I have the mindset of “it’s not the winning that matters, it’s the taking part”, which seems to annoy my dad, who’s very competitive and an avid Euros watcher…

Sorry… I just thought it was interesting to discuss what impact football matches had on crowd levels.

As it turns out, should England make the final, the trip I booked to Thorpe Park a couple of months ago falls upon the exact same date as the match… I was hoping queues might be short, as some people would surely want to stay at home and prepare for the match, but my dad’s said we’re coming home early so we can definitely be home in time for the match.

What a incredulous post. If you don't understand that an international football event provides an opportunity for people to come together after 18 months apart, to celebrate something we don't suck at as a nation, I really feel for you.

It is weird that that's all gone quiet - maybe they think they're getting enough people through the gates already not to bother?

There is still mention of a "brand-new summer event" on the events page, but that could be interpreted as referring to Mardi Gras...

Although we have the "brand new summer events" mentioned on the events page, the fact we don't have a dedicated page for it on there all but confirms it's not going to be a thing this year, at least not to the scale we were assuming. I would guess the uncertainty around restrictions lifting and a difficulty in actually getting staff this year has stopped them from going all out on a Summer event. I don't think that necessarily means there'll be nothing though, I reckon we may see a few food vans return and an increase in entertainment around the park at a minimum.

It's fairly clear now that Oktoberfest will be the park's next "big" event that they'll be concentrating on.

When I was there on 28th June, all the on-park marketing that had been advertising Mardi Gras in April was advertising Oktoberfest, so unless the park is being very, very late with their announcement, I’d be surprised if there’s anything too major over summer, personally.
