I think they can getaway with it Edge is kinda in its own area behind Cobra a bit like how Haunting is in its own areaIf budgets couldn’t stretch far enough to retheme Edge, then I think it’s understandable that Paultons wanted to put more money into the meat of the area, and the stuff that’s actually going to be staying long term, as opposed to giving Edge a retheme for its remaining years.
Although it does still seem somewhat out of step with Paultons’ typical cohesive, “finish every corner” approach, as it will stick out like somewhat of a sore thumb within a heavily themed Viking area. And it also feels like the type of thing a Merlin park, or any other UK park for that matter, would be heavily criticised for doing.

Paultons Park: General Discussion

It's not. The Haunting clearly sits within Frontier Falls. No additional effort has been taken to theme the ride to the area. The introduction video still mentions Staffordshire Moorlands police, and is somehow set in the 1800s, 1997 and 2025 all at the same time.bit like how Haunting is in its own area
The only cohesive theme, about The Haunting, is the ride host yelling "IS EVERYBODY OK TO CONTINUE?!' at the end of every story beat.

I don't know if it's said at the event that it's relocating or staying as there does seem to be some conflicting messages about thisI asked about the edge. Don’t know why they’re not retheming it if it’s staying.
As I know you were at the event, I'll take this as a reliable source that it's just staying in the area.Yeah it's staying where it is and it will be outside the boundary of the Valgaurd area.
A bit surprised it's not being integrated into the area or relocated, I don't think there is a logical place for it to go anywhere else in the park though.
I do think removing Edge and Magma at the same time would lose the park two valuable family thrill rides for the older ones that they can't afford to lose so better to keep one or both.
I'm very surprised it's Magma that's going this year although I can see why (as it's SBF and can be unreliable).
I can honestly see the park addressing the Edge once the accommodation is built and opened though.

Out of curiosity, is anybody aware of Paultons’ policy around opening rides in wet weather?
I’m going on Thursday, and the day’s weather forecast looks increasingly inclement! Apple Weather suggests a 70% chance of precipitation, although wind gusts only top out at 26mph.
Is Paultons one of these parks that shuts everything in the slightest speck of rain? This does seem to be more of an American thing than a British one overall, but I was just curious.

Unless it’s cost I’m surprised that Magma not been moved to the lost kingdom area but could be down to cost and the age of the ride as at the moment the theme fits perfectly with Dinosaurs.
Also Maybe Edge isn’t been added to the Vikings area as they know Drayton got a Vikings themed disc o coaster and want to have there own rides in there Vikings area.
I do think Edge will be classed in the area that features the seal, digger and the wave swinger to they decide what to do with that area of the park.
Even the central area of the park will look out of place with there 2 Vikings rides.

I'm genuinely curious if it's more to do with getting higher quality ride hardware although Teacups is still there and a Modern Products ride (which I'm surprised hasn't been moved over to Hayling Island already)Unless it’s cost I’m surprised that Magma not been moved to the lost kingdom area but could be down to cost and the age of the ride as at the moment the theme fits perfectly with Dinosaurs.
I believe the Edge is exactly where the entrance of the park is for the accommodation so those plans may factor into the future of Edge. Also Maybe Edge isn’t been added to the Vikings area as they know Drayton got a Vikings themed disc o coaster and want to have there own rides in there Vikings area.

The “American thing” is more related to lightning than rain. This does seem to be more of an American thing than a British one overall, but I was just curious.

It is within The Lost Kingdom area. That's why there's a dinosaur in a cage as part of the queue.Unless it’s cost I’m surprised that Magma not been moved to the lost kingdom area but could be down to cost and the age of the ride as at the moment the theme fits perfectly with Dinosaurs.

I can’t speak of official policy but I’ve been on very wet days and nothing was closed, including a rare Velociraptor lift hill stoppage that involved getting extremely wet.
